installed Cary Faas Racing slip-ons
« on: November 20, 2013, 11:36:27 PM »

Looked around for a long while for my plan to get some more aggressive soumd out of my RK.  Considered Fullsac, V&H, Reinharts, krushers, Kerker, but finally decided to go with CFR double fluted slip-ons.  I read lots about the tq dip and tunning issues,  but the sound and looks tipped the scales. I figured if I can work to get the bike to tunned and will always have the looks and sound from the CFRs.  If I went with anything else for the sake of tunning. .. I would lust after the CFRs if I heard another bike with them drive by.  So far not a noticeable decrease in tune or in driveability... but the sound is like no other. ..f****ng love it!!

Absolutely would not use any other muffler. They sound awesome!!!
Just swapped my cams and did a retune.  It took some work but my tuner got rid of almost all of the low end dip!!

I must admit, the new CFR with the perforated lining does have a better TQ curve than the older one, however, they are still leave power on the table.

I agree with landar. Other slipons may produce a few more pounds of torque or some horsepower or two. I would rather have the sound and looks of the CFR's than to have higher numbers on a piece of paper and look and sound like a turd. Love the new pipes.

I am running them on both mine and hers, love them but I did install big city thunder toque baffle in both of them. And did notice a BIG difference with the low end torque dip after running them. First tried the x-pipe then true duals liked the sound better on mine left the x-pipe on hers. Also have andrews 57H cams in both bikes.

What headpipe did you use?
I have the stock header.  Gonna do my homework to see which head pipes and tuner work best. Not looking to make my ride a 1/4 mile monster.  Any suggestions would help (and no I'm not getting rid of them for a 2-1)  ;D

You mean they did not at one point have the honey comb perforated baffle lining (as seen in the close up pic)?

Search "Harley CFR exhaust" on YouTube. There are multiple videos with different headers on there.
