2011 FLHTCUSE6 Hard to fing neutral when running
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:32:44 PM »

I recently bought a 2011 FLHTCUSE6.  This is my first Cruise Drive 6 speed bike.  Are they all hard to find neutral on? Only hard to find when Running. thought it may be the clutch but I can paddle the bike with no issue or drag with the lever pulled in.   I was recommended by Baker Trans to run Redline Shockproof Heavy in my Baker six speed. Would this Help ? I am sure it would help with whine and clunk but what about the neutral issue.

There are several good posts relative to this issue, search "clunk" and you will find as many as you want to read.  The Redline product is good, Amsoil Supershift Syn ATF is good, Bel-Ray ATF is good, and several posts suggest ANYTHING other than HD SYN is (at least) better.  Your bike will roll more easily in neutral as there is no clutch drag. If this is a "stop light" thing, the fluid change and more time with the new bike will help. You bought a great bike, it just takes a while to get used to their "personalities".

Why does your CUSE6 have a Baker 6 speed trans in it?

Does it still have the hydraulic clutch set up. Change out the hydraulic clutch fluid & bleed it.

Redline shockproof is great in the trans.

If neutral is easy to find with the motor off and difficult with motor running, I think your couch is not fully
disengaged. Try reducing some of the slack in cable

I'm thinking he had a Baker 6 in his '05 SEEG.

He probably still has the hydraulic clutch.

Neutral has been hard to find on two of the three Cruise Drive bikes I've had.  Then again, my Baker DD7 also is reluctant to go into neutral when running, so... :nixweiss:

Too much primary fluid will also cause this. Only way to tell is to change the fluid for another qt of choice.

Easiest thing to do first is to change to the Redline Shockproof in the tranny, which is a better product to run in there anyway.

Then, if that doesn't do it for you, start looking elsewhere, as in primary fluid and/or hydraulic clutch issues (though they are mostly foolproof).
