Changing Rear Wheel Pulley Again but will Belt Still Fit?
« on: November 25, 2013, 04:11:20 PM »

A long time ago I changed my Transmission Pulley from a 32 to a 30 and rear wheel pulley from 65 to 68 tooth. Stock belt was 133 and I installed a 135 tooth a 6 speed .86 OD gearset. Now I want to install a 65 tooth rear wheel pulley. Quiestion is this.
The belt was 133 changed to 135 tooth. The rear pulley is now 65 tooth stock. The transmission pulley is 30 not the stock 32. The front  pulley is 2 teeth less and the belt has two extra teeth. The rear axle is in the center of the swinga arm adjustment. will it still work? Two teeth on belt will move the axle to the rear but how much? Am I looking at this wrong? Thanks for any input Guys

What I mean to say is with the 30/68 ratio the axle is in the middle of the swingarm. So going to the 65 tooth  will move the axle rear how far? Will there be enough in ths slot or do I need to change the belt again?

Without sounding stupid on my part is it possible to make a mock up?  I'm just taking a guess here but depending on having the parts available and not installed I would think it could be done and still be very accurate.

I messed up my post here, this was supposed to be a reply for the sprocket & belt fitment.  Sorry about the confusion.  Hopefully this can be removed.

The other day I was out riding and there was a loud bang. I hit  a small 6"x2" flat peice of steel. the front tire threw it into the frame, putting a small dent at the mid peg mounts and took a chunk out of the outermost side of the rear pulley and it damaged the belt. Odd that this happened as I was wanting to change the pulley anyway.
My wife thinks I damaged it on purpose. I woulld never hurt my bike intentionally. I love her. My wife is jealous of it. So now i really do have to change the pulley and belt.
stock belt is 133 tooth with 32/65 gearing now it will have30/65 gearing. 2 teeth less than stock on transmission,What belt size do I need? With the old stock 32/65 the rear axle was about 1/4" from being all the way forward. with 30/65 gearing
Thanks

Man I can tell you stories about the wife and the bike conflicts. Some times I think it is a totally different person in front of me. Just have to stay the coarse and not give in.  ::)

Just got the trip to Daytona approved, that was harry to say the least. Cheers.
