New Jester B/O p/u last night....
« on: November 11, 2006, 09:28:17 AM »

Well after waiting for 3 months from the time I sold my old 2006 FB SE bike (hated it because it was not made for long distance riding) I finally got my B/O 07 SEEG. Damn what am impressive bike except for the following.

1. Pipes SuuuccccKKKKKK on this bike!!! A MUST REPLACE ASAP!!!
Options - RH, Freedom, V&H... Too bad I can't try out all 3 before buying?

2. Front Back rest - I would like it more if the damn seat rest would go up higher than what the factory has. I only need about 3 inches and it would be great but the back rest sits too low at the highest setting? Suggestions anyone?

3. Speakers - Working on installing the Hwag Wired kit now I got from HD-DUDE I brought from him last week. Amazing that I just get the bike, ride it for 57 miles and then disassemble the bike for installing the speakers and amps. WOW!! I can really learn more about my bike when I do this instead of riding it.

4. Seat - Just like everyone said on this fourm the seat gets too hot in the lowest setting. Why couldn't the F'in Moco make an adjustable setting for temp instead of Low and High?

5. XM Radio - I thought the radio comes with a 3 month free trial? I am already an XM subscriber but want to take advantage of the 3 month trial but don't think I can get away with it?

6. Engine - Seems like a lot of vibration with this enginer compared to my 06 SEFB. I know the engines are installed differently (counter balanced vs rubber mounted) but man lots of vibration while sitting in idle.

7. Notes taken - From all the other people on this site I took notes from everyones issues when they got there new 07 bikes. All the major ones I looked for were not on my bike. The gears I know lots of people talked about being an issue but this is how the bike is designed with the new 6 speed. I am actually surprised I did not see any issues with this bike.

OK I need to stop here so I can get back to working on getting some REAL NOISE (Speakers and Amp installed) so that I can get out an enjoy riding this Hundereds of Dollars bike!!!

Temporary Real Noise until I get my new pipes put on to balance out what I really want to hear when I ride down the road.

Later,

Big Dave

Dave,

If this is your first rubber-mount Harley, I fully understand your concern.

Congratulations on the new cycle.  I too had some of the same issues especially the vibration at idle at extreme vibration at 2600 - 2800 rpms in 5th and 6th.  Do you have the same?

Good luck on the rest of the issues.

Welcome to the site (officially)!!  This is the best place there is for both learning things about your new bike, and the people here are great!!

Seat issues: Personally, I did not find the low setting on the stock seat too hot, at least not when it is cold enough to need it.  You might have that checked out....the high setting is definitely warm.  Personally, I found the stock seat hurt my ass after a few hours in the saddle.  I solved that problem by putting a Corbin on (see thread), with heat and solid backrest.  The Corbin backrest is higher.  The only way I could see for you to raise the existing backrest is to put spacers/longer bolts on the fender braket that the backrest bracket bolts to...this would not be an easy task, as there are three mounting points for the bracket, all of which would have to be modified.  Get some time in the seat and see if it's comfortable for you.  It feels good initially, but collapses.  The passenger section is fine, but the rider part is too soft, in my opinion.  Others find it to be fine.  Depends on your butt design, I guess.

Vibration: As Jerry said, these motors bounce around a lot at idle, but are smooth at speed.  It's something you will get used to.  The handlebars jump around when sitting at lights, but everything is fine.

My stock pipes sucked too...change them to at least a decent pair of slips.  The options there are a whole other topic, as you have to consider air cleaner, fuel management, etc.

XM...I'll bet they will work with you on the free trial...for mine, I just called them, gave them the radio ID and they activated it, so you might get the 3 months free, then when that runs out, add it to your existing plan.

Enjoy the ride, check out the seat options discussed here, and read about all the possible pipe/fuel management systems becoming available for the 07's.  The aftermarket is quickly providing products to meet the need.

Synful,

I have not got around to listening to the 5th and 6th gears just yet. Too much excitement just getting the darn thing. Once my excitement calms down I will check out the 5th and 6th gears as you said. It might be tomorrow as it is raining here today.

Time to get on the bike now and work it.

I see you've been here awhile, but welcome to the site anyway, I missed your early posts.

The backrest issue was solved for me simply by going with the HD larger backrest that should be standard.  It has the height you are looking for.

52914-98  MSRP US $209.95
Fits '88-later Touring models equipped with slotted seats.

I also had my stock seat rebuilt by a local shop.  Rich's Custom Upholstery in Seattle.

I went with a set of HD SE pro performance slip ons from a member on this site.  Sound great to my ear.

Big Dave,

Before one of the SEEG guys mentions it, you have a SEUC if it's the Ultra.

Those guys get sensitive about little things LOL.

Enjoy that beauty, I thought about one but got the evil eye from the back seater as this is "her" bike and she likes the 06 just fine. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Rjob749,

Thanks for the correction I did mean to say SEUC.

Too much work and not enough sleep as I keep working on getting my bike ready.

[smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  Great Bike......Why did you add an amp to the stereo, wasn't the standard enough?  The seat is uncomfortable after riding for hours....looks good but not pratical.  I may look into the Corbin Seat mentioned in the posts.  My 06 SE Ultra heated seat as soooo hot on low even during cold weather, we had to cycle it on & off.

07 coming shipping in 20 days, but who is counting......

Napalm,

I had to get the amp and speakers done due to the removing the touring pack when my GF is not around while I am riding it. Looks much better without it as well.

Under the touring pack is the amp that would drive the stereo speakers (front and rear) so you have no choice but to remove it and the wires as well. I will miss out on the locking feature for the touring pack but I can still manually lock it if I needed to.

The new amp and speakers BLOW out what the factory has to offer anyway. Speakers will be in the front fearing top and bottom only.
