OMG!  My mom and dad took pics of EVERYTHING!  They've never been to our nation's capitol.  

The most memorable part of the trip was at the Vietnam Memorial when we were looking for the name of one of my dad's friends that didn't make it home.  This guy standing there started talking to my dad and started asking him questions about his friend.  It turns out that he'd met my dad's friend when they arrived in 'Nam.  The guy got all choked up while telling my dad about him and I had to walk away after thinking how lucky he was that he came home with permanent use of cane...  Afterwards, we went back to the book of names and found several more of my parent's friends and neighbors listed.

The most disturbing part of the trip was at the Lincoln Memorial when I thought DC would have to physically remove me from the building when I looked over and saw this kid writing on the wall with an inkpen while his mother stood there and watched doing nothing and acted as if she couldn't understand English when I shrieked, "Oh My God, what is that kid doing?"
