Heritage Springer Softail
« on: November 29, 2013, 03:18:41 PM »

Been looking at these for a while.  Totally impractical, but would love to have one in the garage.  I know members here have or currently own them.  What's the best year?  What to look out for?  Currently considering a '97 and an '03.  Both are priced similarly and have comparable miles.

TIA,

The 97 was the first year made, 03 was the last year made. Both are great bikes, The 03 is a 88" twin cam and will run a little stronger but other than that base it on what catches your eye. Good luck

I really enjoyed my 03 springer. I still kick myself for selling it. With a flatslide mikuni, 204 cams, thunder header it ran very well.

I have the 97 blue and white. It's an eye catcher when the chrome (3hrs stem to stern) is polished.
The only problem is replacement accessories can be difficult and expensive to find ( see FLSTS on eBay).
http://www.heritagespringer.com  is a good source for information. If you keep your eyes open you should be able to find a low mileage well maintained machine at a decent price. Good Luck.
