High Mileage
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:25:15 PM »

Just bought a 2011 CVO RG Ultra,it has 15k on it.Havent rode it much due to Mi weather. Is Anybody getting a lot of miles out of the 110,without problems? The little riding I got to do,bike was smooth and quite. The guy that traded it in,told me it at been trouble free for him.But what you read on here,Makes it sound like they are all a problem.

I put 42K on my 09 CVO Road Glide, 110 before it had a lifter go bad, and take out the cam.

I have 32500 on my 12 CVO Road Glide, no engine issues except the Voltage regulator recall.

Don't have as many miles as so many of you do, but the only "noise" I can discern is from the valve train.  What with the 255 cam and the valve springs used, that isn't a surprise.  Oh yeah, there seems to be a lot of wind noise on the highway.  I wonder where that comes from?

50,000 on a 2012 and the only problem was a broken wire to the motor and had to have her towed in..

Is there a question there?
You have been a member since 2009, did you miss all the post about the 110's?
It has been my experience that all 110's are great, till they have an issue.
It's not a question whether there will be a problem, it's a question of when.
That "when" can be easily managed by being proactive in maintenance.
That info is on the site, easily accessed using the search function.
Good luck!

The most prevalent issue with the '09 and up 110's has been lifters failing and taking out various components, or the entire engine.  If you have the extended service plan and have not made mods to the engine, you can just ride it until something happens.  If you want to be proactive and don't mind spending the money, my personal opinion is to examine the cam chest for lifter wear, oil pump wear, and cam chain shoes.  If you're doing that, replace the lifters with something like the S&S and be done with it.

You should not HAVE to do this to a $38,000 bike, but that is the reality of owning a modern HD Twin Cam.  Some people can ride them for 50K and not have a minutes trouble, but there have been too many reports of lifter failures around the 30K mark to make me comfortable with just ignoring it.

I'm at 33,000 miles now replacing lifters, tensioners and chains, cams, oil pump, and cam plate on my 2010 SEUltra.
Inner primary tensioner shoe was worn out as was the chain and rear exhaust lifter roller was bad..  No noises, no loss of oil pressure and ran fine-just microscopic metal shavings on magnetic oil drain plug was the warning sign.

No problem, you are excused!

The info available on this site is priceless.
Every 110 is the same and everyone is different.
When we spend as much on our bikes as we have I would think those with concerns would search out info on issues that can arise.
But maybe you have other things to do.
Good luck!

I have a '09 CUSE, 48K and running fine. I do have a upper valve train rattle(not to bad), but it has been there as long as I can remember. Did replace the lifters & comp at 30K after all the horror stories here. I also have a '13 SERK that is running like new, 612 on the clock. If my '09 ever implodes, I'm going S&S.
