Brake Pads
« on: December 14, 2013, 01:12:01 PM »

The service manual says to replace brake pads if the friction material is worn down to 0.016 in. or 0.4 mm. Can anyone tell me what the pad thickness is on a new pad, or where I can find the information.
            Thanks In advance    Jonnierock

New pads, front and rear (pad material) are .140" thick.  :(

Jonnierock, there is a wear indicator in the form of a line on the brake pads. If the break pads get to the bottom of the line it is time for new ones. When I had my Heritage the rear pads would look good on one side, and be a lot thinner on the other side kind of like the pads were not parallel to the rotor. I check the pads all the way around to make sure this is not the case on my 09. They seem to be wearing evenly and still have a lot of meat left at 17k miles. I mostly use my 09 on long trips.
