CVO patch and MC clubs
« on: December 16, 2013, 03:07:15 PM »

Has anyone on here ever had any problems wearing the CVO patch while riding, in my area certain MC clubs will challenge a new patch on the scene and I am not sure whether to chance it or not.

typically "Bikers" as opposed to "motorcycle enthusiasts" claim geographical territories.  A CVO is a hybrid Harley Davidson, I would think they would claim your bike before your patch.  During Bike Week in Daytona, Boot Hill Saloon used to require customers to turn their vests inside out, even if they were not "Club" related.  "No names, no colors, no weapons, no attitudes."  Things seem less confrontational now, everyone just wants to have a good time.  Our CVO patches shouldn't "threaten" anyone, anywhere, including the UK.

as a single patch with no separated top or bottom rocker and no MC cube you should not be bothered by anyone

I belong to a car club and a few of us with bikes were wearing our car club jackets and were told by local chapter of a worldwide MC club not to wear them while riding our bikes. So now I like to check first.

I don't believe there is a "One Rule" on "Flying Colors". I have never had a firm "Take it off". Last time I was asked not to fly I was in the local VFW and it was mentioned that the Commander would prefer to not see my colors worn. The time before that I was given a support shirt and told to "Wear That"! I guess it's how the idea of "Colors" is perceived.

Our jacket has 2 hotrod cars with the club name in an arch over the top with the words- "Classic, Custom & American" under it, there is no mention of motorcycles or bikers anywhere yet the told us there would be trouble if they saw us wearing them while riding, I even offered to go to their club house to explain what our club was all about but they weren't interested.

"club" colors with issues should be the 3 piece design.
Top rocker (club name)
main patch (club graphic)
bottom rocker (locale, typically)

And we are an "internet" "group". Group being the key word. And it specifically states we are a group on the patch.

Our CVO patch does not come close to meeting that criteria.

Harley and the HOG has a two patch color for a riding "group" so it fails the MC 3 piece patch issue as well.

Now if you went and put a state rocker under the HOG patch ......................

I even offered to go to their club house to explain what our club was all about but they weren't interested.

That is not surprising and is a lot more difficult to arrange then you would think.

For your area, if you really wanted to get a clarification, try and get in touch with the CoC for your area.
Confederation of Clubs.

Good luck with that though.

Don't want to get into it anymore, we have just told our members it is better not to wear car club jackets while riding and left it at that.

Does anyone combine hog with CVO, say the CVO patch with a HOG chapter top rocker ??

Disclaimer!  I'm no expert

That said, I've never seen a H.O.G. Chapter name above anything other than the approved H.O.G. National patch. You might wear a small CVO patch somewhere on your clothing other than the center of the back.

The large patches in the center of the back typically by themselves aren't as big a deal as the rockers people place above or below them.

As mentioned H.O.G. went through a great deal in the U.S. getting their patch accepted by the MC's. You should never see a lower rocker with a H.O.G. patch.

HOG does indeed have "bottom" rockers such as road captain, photographer, membership officer, etc. I have 3 under my HOG patch with the local top rocker.

Don't think I've seen that... then again I've never heard of the situation you are describing. I own/wear a CVO Large patch on one of my vests and have never had any problems. Best I can tell you if you are experiencing problems in your area and you want to avoid them then don't wear one of the CVO patches. :nixweiss:
