Which Fullsac baffles to choose?
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:35:02 PM »

Okay, after much deliberating, and help from you all, I decided the best way to go was to use Stock CVO mufflers and Fullsac baffles.  I found a good used set of 08 CVO oem mufflers and I am going to use Fullsac baffles with the Stock CVO mufflers.  I have the following setup:  2008 CVO Ultra 110" with tru dual headers and will be using Steve's baffles.  My question is which size baffles with my setup will be loud enough to have the "Harley sound" at idle and low RPM but will bark with some throttle.  Loud, but not TOO loud.
Thanks for you help with this as I am anxious to get this baby back on the road and make my wife happy.

you definitely don't want the 1.75s then.  i'm using the 2.0 and i'm very happy with the sound.  at cruise, it is a very mellow sound, little more bark when you hit the throttle.  you will not blow any eardrums with these, but they do sound good, and you'll still be able to hear your radio :D

here's a sound clip i made of mine when i installed them.

There are many threads on this including one by Fullsac showing the power of the 1.75", 2.00" and 2.25" baffles.  I recall the 2.00 performed best.  Wrapping / packing is another issue to consider.

Another vote for the 2",they are perfect for me.Make sure to get the screens as it keeps the insulation to the outside of the pipes and gives a deeper sound.Plus it makes installation easier. One wrap with just enough overlap to hold it together while sliding them in worked perfect.Good luck, you will love them!

I changed from 1.75" to 2.0"…..a slight improvement, but also pulled the catalytic converter.  It's about right for rumble & doesn't drive the wife nuts with too much noise while she's sleeping in the queen seat! :2vrolijk_21:

The True dual headpipes will be much louder than the later 2 into 1 into 2 headpipes. 2.0 would be the max, I think the 1.75s are really what your after
considering the wife is involved. The 2008 CVO mufflers have a sound deadening sleeve in them from the factory. No need to buy the screens, you already
have an OEM set. If by chance the 1.75s were too quiet you could always remove the sleeve for more sound.

Hi there
I installed the 2.00's and used new 1/4" Techmat packing with Steve's perforated sleeves. Wrapped one full wrap plus enough of an overlap so when the sleeve expanded it was covered right.

Could not be happier with the tone! :)

Cheers

OK, so tell me if I missed it. Hadn't installed yet but have the Fullsac header & 2 1/4" Baffels. Sounds like it might be to loud? Don't care about the Neighbor's, the Cops, or the Wife(most times). If I wrap 2 layers will that shush it a bit?

I'm running the 2.25" baffles and I think they sound great. They ARE not loud to me. Now as far as neighbors, unless you're at 5000 rpms at 6:00 am they will be loud. Cruising at normal residential speeds you will be fine.

Running the Fullsac set up, you will very stocked on the Performance and sound. Most folks on this site will agree.

Doubt you will notice the difference with one wrap or two.
I'm running 2" cores and true duals on the 113 that sound pretty nice in the group rides. Only time it gets louder is when I gas it.
Same true with my 103 running 1.75 cores and x-pipe, little quieter for my BSR
Suggest you talk to Steve G. He can explain the effects of louver length, size, etc on sound..
I don't worry about my neighbors either, I don't have any.
Nearest neighbor is a hot rodder anyway!

Is anyone using the Fullsac baffles with the stock head-pipes, or is it a waste of time unless you change the head-pipes too?
