Packing a 4 inch
« on: December 17, 2013, 10:01:56 PM »

Hey there, just a quick question for ya. I was changing the tips on my 4 inch Rinehart baffles. When I pulled of the original tip the inner core slipped out. ( to my surprise ) What I realized is there's no packing of any kind in the baffles. So, if I pack them will the pipe be much, or at all less noisy? It is the extreme true duals with the 4 inch cans. The holes in the cores are very small, kind of small narrow slits. Any thoughts. And can I pack with pink insulation? ( total squid question I know )

I was wondering the same thing about the Roland Sands Tracker Slipons on my '09?? I don't think the pink stuff will do it, there might be something more suitable...

More packing = less noise. To the rider & BSR for sure.

Don't use the Pink Panther type house insulation. Go to a MC shop and get the correct material for packing.

Fiberglass material works, as does muffler wrap loosely applied. Tie wire around it in a couple of places to hold in place

Ideally you don't want the packing wrapped tightly around the baffle, but instead placed out against the wall of the can.  Fullsac sells the material and a screen to hold it in place if you're interested; I assume it would work with any 4" cans.

Interesting! Most folks get the Rhineharts because of the way they sound right out of the box, not to say that it ain't a good looking can!Initially why I got mine until I got tired of being tone deaf after a ride! hummm, interesting....
