I have two CVO's, 09 Roadglide and 11 streetglide, I had to replace 5 tires on these two bikes since new because of cupping and cracking. Today I just notice that the front tire that had to be replaced on my 09 because of cupping now has a long deep crack in the side wall after just 4500 miles.. I know we don't have a lot of options because of the sizes but is there any options other than Dunlop?

For the front, yes. The rear, no. The D407 HD branded tire from Dunlop is the only 18" tire on the market that carries the proper load rating. I have asked every manufactures rep at each dealer show I have attended for years and they all state it is something they are working on but right now we are stuck with the HD tire

I actually don't think thats such a bad thing. Though I don't get that many miles on a set (totally my fault!) I personally really like their performance and God knows I push them. I have 16000 miles and have gone thru 3 rears all with a big smile on my face! Maybe Im cray?

Until recently, I've always run the HD Dunlops on all my Harleys and have been satisfied except on the '09 SERG. Went with the Commander IIs on the '05 SEEG this time, and along with the Glide Pro bushings, I am amazed at the improvement to an already good handling bike.

I am like Jim (and a lot of others) and hope for an alternative to the tires on the '09 SERG! The HD Dunlops handle ok, but I am pissed off with the scalloping on the rear. Just had the Glide Pros installed on the '09, have not had a chance to put any miles on the Glide Pro, have my fingers crossed that the GP will help with the scalloping until somebody comes out with a proper set of tires...

 I thought the Commanders II are the proper tires for the big touring bikes!!  I am just about to pull the plug on a set ( bike show prices should be good ) but now I am questioning my choice here. Can I safely use the Commander II's on a Ultra Classic?

I went with the Mich Com II on my '09 CUSE a little over 1 1/2 ago. Have 13k on it and fully expect another 5k or so. By far the best mileage I have ever gotten.....and its still wearing even. Used dyna-beads for the first time, a royal PITA but appears to be worth it. Got it off Amazon for $120 + or -, to my door. It WILL be replaced by same!!!

What model bike and year?  Put that info in your profile and we won't have to ask in the future.

If I can assume you're talking about a 2010 CUSE5 with a 130/80 B17  65H front and a 180/65 B16 81H rear, Michelin does have those sizes and load ranges so you should be good to go.

Commander II.  Btw, I had a typo in my previous post, the front should have read 130/80 B17  65H.

I spoke to the Metzler Rep today.  He said that the ME880's will work; I do have PM wheels on the bike and not the HD wheels.  Was he mistaken?

What is the size (diameter and rim width) of the PM wheels, and which ME880 was he claiming would work?  You still need the proper load range (same or higher than stock, never lower), and the tire you plan to install needs to be designed for the rim width you intend to mount it on.

Now you're just braggin'! Anyways, I have had 3 tires replaced up front due to sidewall cracking. I have 13k on my bike and have yet to pay for a tire. I guess I look at it as glass is half full. I like the look and performance of the Dunlop and although I had some trouble it looks like the new front tire isn't going to crack this time. Whatever issue they had, it appears to be gone now. Nobody is perfect. My rear tire is the original and has plenty of life left I expect to get a full riding season on it before it's disposal. Good luck in your quest for the ultimate tire!

Thanks, I have a feeling that I'm going to end up back with the OEM after getting some advise here.  I put a S&S 124 in the bike in the fall, and am a bit concerned about speed rating, load, and performance now that I have more power   going up to Fuel Moto in a couple of weeks to have it tuned, riding in WI won't happen for another 3-4 months, so it's a good time to work on the bike.

I am contemplating going to Fuelmoto for work or to Drago's bike works for engine work. Not sure which yet. I just ordered Franks Dragula pipe to replace my Fatcat.
