Oil Change
« on: January 09, 2014, 01:21:12 PM »

Hey guys I'm looking for a device that will allow me to push all of the old oil out of the engine and oil cooler when I change it. I added an Oil Bud cooler last year and I'm not sur e I'm getting all the oil out. Any suggestions?

Gotta admit Lew that's an interesting question and kcbike came up with a great suggestion, albeit at the expense of an extra quart per change and the $100 system.  I would respectfully suggest that there is a line between meticulous and anal, I have been accused of the latter at times, but oil changing hasn't been one of them. I'll pay attention to see if I have been wrong.

I would agree, but this new cooler holds and given that I just spent over 10k to replace the engine and install and tune......well you start to ask a lot of questions!

What are the advantages? Are you getting more impurities out with each change?

I am a believer in the system as well. Started using the scavenger about 2 years ago, its nice to know that when you do a change that all the old oil is out and you are starting with new clean oil. Anal? Yep but aren't we all with these bikes?

Hi Guys, I am interested in the rogue choppers oil scavenger system. The one part of their system is called a puck. It screws on in place of an oil filter while you are flushing out the last dirty quart. ( I used to do this all the time on my 95 Heritage, but as you all know the oil on an evolution engine came from the oil tank thru the motor and out thru the filter and back to the tank so I could just let it run out until clean) Could someone post a picture of the side of the "puck" that goes towards the engine? I am curious to see what it looks like. Thanks in advance CAHDBIKER  P.S. just rode out  thru the artichoke fields of the on my way to Point Mugu yesterday afternoon. T shirt weather. The chunk of mountain you can see in my attached picture is the one you will see in many car commercials.  There is also a large sand dune on the north side of Pacific Coast Highway just south of where I took the picture. It is not a long ride but gets me out of the house for a couple of hours. Don't want to highjack thread, but it was so nice I wanted it to share my experience.

Apologize for the hi-jack but couldn't resist, we parked the '09 SERG in the exact same spot 9/13 when we were heading South...
