Rear suspension
« on: January 13, 2014, 12:46:19 PM »

Is the rear suspension on the '14 CVO Limited better than what is on the '13 CVO RG? Debating wether to throw a trunk on my RG with back rest for the wife or bite the bullet and get the new limited. Well I would have both then but do like the sportiness of the RG.

You can buy the best aftermarket shocks for less than $1000 and I doubt you can trade for that.  The 14's have a much improved front suspension but the rear is the same (I assume your current shocks are 13" and not 12").  Research Bitubo, JRI, Works, Ohlins-all better than the stock air.

Wow.......surprised they wouldn't at least use the same as the RG. That is much better than air. I have air on my '03 Ultra.

The 2013 CVO RG has the low profile hand adjustable shocks like the Street Glides.  The 2014 CVO Limited has the standard height air shocks.  You would pick up a tiny bit of travel with the longer shocks, but other than that I can't imagine them being better than what you currently have on the RG.

Sorry, didn't know your bike came with the premium hand adjustable shocks like the SE Streetglide.

Stock is HD air junk. Took mine of and put on a set of Öhlins for around a grand. Now I like the rear shocks but can feel that the front sucks even if they improved it some. On the list to replace the front suspension before the snow melts.

ALL HD shocks and front end suspension is pure, unadulterated chit.  Change it all, and you will be happier. You can do all kinds of stuff to make it go faster in a straight line, but who rides motorcycles for riding in a straight line?
