Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:55:07 AM »

The Menifee Police Department will be conducting a "Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation" Jan. 18, in an effort to lower deaths and injuries, the department announced today.

"Extra officers will be on duty patrolling areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur. Officers will be looking for violations made by drivers and riders alike that can lead to motorcycle crashes. They will be cracking down on both those operating regular vehicles and motorcycles who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, making illegal turns, or any other dangerous violation," a news release from the department read.

The department stated in its news release that it anticipates seeing an increase in the number of "novice motorcycle riders who are untrained and unable to handle the power of today’s motorcycles."

According to the department, riders can get training through the California Motorcyclist Safety Program. Information and training locations are available at www.CA-msp.org or 1-877 RIDE 411 or 1-877-743-3411.

Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Here in the north east, that means the cop pull over only motorcycles check helmets, pipes, license, reggies, insurance. They will impound the bike

I always get a kick out of govt officials that make statements like this and then offer no data to support their position:

a.  Why do they think there will be an increase in novice riders?
b.  How do they know these riders will be untrained?
c.  Lastly, how do they know these riders will not be able to handle the bike's power?

Seems like a lot of assumptions.

Come election time I foresee an increase in novice politicians. I propose regular surprise lie detector and morality testing for their own safety.

I look forward  to novice politicians s they aren't as corrupt as the incumbents. So we have a glimmer of hope.
Notice I didn't say they aren't crooks, just unproven.

San Bernardino police cited 24 people, arrested three and recovered a stolen gun during a motorcycle enforcement operation Saturday, Jan. 12.

Officers sought to get impaired drivers off the streets. They patrolled areas where injury motorcycle crashes tend to occur because of vehicle code violations.

A news release said that officers pulled over 54 drivers. Six motorists were cited for driving with suspended or revoked licenses.

Riders can get training through the California Motorcyclist Safety Program by visiting CA-msp.org or calling 877-743-3411.
