Which Cams for a 2014 Twin Cooled 103
« on: January 21, 2014, 12:51:47 AM »

I am about to take delivery of a new 2014 Ultra Limited with a twin cooled 103 motor that comes with a 10.1 compression ratio.
I am going to have Doc install a Ful-sak XD pipe, Reinhardt 3 1/2" slip-on mufflers and H/D's Hi-flow air filter kit, and tune it with a Mastertune TTS 2.
He's done a few bikes for me already, and I've always been happy.
I asked him about cams, and he suggested I leave the one that's in their for now (it's not a 255, I'mn not sure what it is, but seems to have good low end power right off the showroom floor), But I dont want to have to do a re-tune, I'd rather change the cam now, unless the stock one is the better choice cam at the moment.
I'd like to get some other feedback about sticking with the stock cam or changing to another one, and which one and why.
I don't care about peak h/p, I want as much torque as low in the rpm range as possiable.
Andrews recomended using their 54 cam.

My new baby, can't wait untill it gets its new chrome wheels, rotors, forks, hand controls and a bunch of other bling to bring it closer to the CVO (couldent do any of the colors, maybe next year)

Please share your thought's.

And if anyone know where I can get a Mastertune TTS 2 for the best price, please let me know.

Thanks,
Lance

Wood 6, S&S .570, are 2 that come to my mind.

Here's some info about the 2014 "stock" cam

Steve...The Kury TC2D has a 50* close on the intake. I would think the stock flat tops would not yeild enough compression for that cam.

The testing is set to start Feb. 11 here. How long it's going to take depends on what things need. With 20 + combinations I hope we could get them all done by the end of March. I figure a good week would allow us to get 5 done so there is 4 weeks + as long as everything goes smooth. As for what camshaft is going to do what that's not up to us. This is purely being done to develop base calibrations for our customers to use, the results will be what they will be. It's going to be one bike, one dyno and one person doing all the tuning. No effort is going to be spent to make one better than the other. They will all get the same treatment.

Does that bike have ESP on it? :huepfenjump3: :huepfenlol2:

All kidding aside; What an awesome project!

Not real super surprising but it appears the exhaust is controlling the curve shape more than anything else. Some of the cams are considerably different yet show similar curves at least at 100% throttle.
