Front turn signals 2014 SERK
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:02:23 PM »

I turn to my RoadKing brothers for some advice, I hate the front turn signals that Harley put on the new models where it is on the hand controls. Has anyone taken them off and moved them? If so is it a pain to disconnect and plug the hole? I am getting ready to put a new set of bars on it and I just cant see leaving them on. Thought about just leaving them off all together since I usually always use hand signals. Pictures would be great if you have moved them.

A number of us with '13 SERK's have moved the turn signals down in conjunction with installation of auxiliary passing lamps. There is a thread on this mod in the RK section, link is below. You can fairly easily disconnect the wiring for the turn signals and pull the wiring out of the handlebars. You just have to take your time and pull gently but firmly on the wiring. If you want to move the signals without installing the aux passing lights then there is a bracket used on Street Glides that moves them to the same position. You can PM me any questions.  If you click on the below pic it should be visible not sideways.

Looks great on your bike, I have the tribal orange and noticed one on the other thread but not sure how I like it. I may look into the Street Glide idea you gave me. Was there a plug you used once your turn signal was out of the hand controls?

Whichever route you go you can use the same plug/connector that your turn signals are currently connected to.  You'll have to cut the connector off to get the wires pulled through the handlebars and then your new turn signals will already have wires that you can connect your old plug to. That was on the '13s....assuming it is the same on the '14s but the new CANBUS may make yours slightly different.

Got rid of them and had passing lamps/turn signals installed. It is a CVO but it is still a road king and I do feel that it needs passing lamps. Totally a personal opinion...no right or wrong.

Thanks for a close up that helps a lot, do you have a part number for the whole setup or did it come separate?

The install required a bunch of parts.
Here you go:

73396-10A: Aux, lamps led 4 inch
69227-04A: custom passing lamp bracket kit
69230-04:   Amber t/s kit for custom aux
69235-04:   hc-hardware kit
73191-96 (8 of those): hc-receptacle, contact, 20-1
69200897: kit-wire harness, led hdlamp
68355-05: wire harness (2 of those)
68331-02: nest ring passing/pursuit lamp
68725-62A: (2 of those) ring, bezedl, lamp

Total of around $800 in parts + 380 labor.

Looks much better than in the picture. I would take more pictures but it is freaking 0 degrees in Chicago right now (that is without the windchill...around -20 degrees.

Hope it helps

Looks very good. One question, what did you do about the holes in the handle bars, or did you fit different bars?

Thanks!

For now, nothing. I just put a little patch of black duck tape to cover the holes. You can barely see the holes anyway (only about 1/4 of an inch and partly hidden).  This is just to prevent water from getting in.
I am planning to replace the bars in the spring with mini apes anyway. I have not decided which kind yet or whether black or chrome.

Thanks, I did not think I was going that route but it looks sweet on the bike.

I will be in Chicago next week hopefully I bring some of the 70 degree weather we are having in Florida with me.

I removed BOTH turn signals and mirrors (here in Europe we get our SERKs with regular HD tapered mirrors) and installed HD mirrors with integrated running lights/turn signals. In my opinion it looks great and more high end as it suits a CVO bike.
I did this on both SERKs.

fairing lowers with speakers will not work on this bike because of air cleaner. So the only solution is to put some speakers on the bars.
