Buy a '14 limited, the problems are highly over exaggerated and easy fixes and will be fixed when you buy. As for the limited over the other, anybody that tells you that less is more is full of it. More is more and you can't get more than the CVO Limited.

"Highly exaggerated?"  Curious why you think the problems are "highly exaggerated?" I have posted some of the problems I've had and continue to have, but I for one have not "exaggerated" anything.

Personally, I could see how it would appear things are being exaggerated becasue there are so many people with issues, recalls, program fixes, etc. Anyway, just curious why you say that?

To the OP, get what ever fits your needs best. I have no regrets getting the '14 even with the issues.

I went with a 14 Ultra Limited and love it! would have purchased the CVO Limited had it fit my budget. Had the leak issue three times; once the filler neck was replaced with the new part my problems stopped. The water cooled heads really work. The motor is cooler and runs exceptionally strong compared to the 07 CVO I traded in for the new bike. I spent around three grand making the bike my own and adding some of the CVO stuff I liked the most. If your budget allows you to comfortably go with the CVO Limited, that is what I would recommend. If your budget is more like mine, go with the Ultra Limited. You will love these bikes. Every time I ride I am amazed at the improvement. They don't ping, they don't get as hot and really perform well stock. The handling and brakes are also superior. The fairing vent does actually work as well.

Best of luck to you

If you ride single all the time get the SG. If you ride double up all the time get the limited. Your BSR will thank you.

I have done the buy a SG and make it a Ultra thing and won't do it again. I have a tour pack, lowers, and back rest in the shop hoping to find a buyer for them since they bring no value trading the bike in with them on it.

I can't speak for the new SG but the 09 SG didn't handle very compared to the 14 Limited CVO.  After adding the tour pack the handling was even worse due to all the extra weight on the back.  I would go the Limited route and make the truck removable if you don't ride on long trips often and want a sportier bike.

If you buy a new Limited you can add the detachable tour-pak conversion kit.

Thanks for the link.

Did you notice the lights in the kit?  Not needed for the CVO, but look perfect for the Limited.  I just knew they would be coming out with lights to fit in the open space between the bags and fender.

Best,

The lights go on the back top of the saddlebags.

I say it because I have one and have had all the same issues as everybody else and went in to the dealer, had them all fixed at onetime and was out of there in an hour ! Yes it's aggravating that this has happened and a pain to take time out to go to the dealer but, I haven't heard of anybody being stranded on a deserted road with a dripping hose clamp Connection or small coolant overflow or even the radio cracking and popping(it won't if you use an iPod).

Yes, I use my iphone, so the FM cracking doesn't really bother me.  It's more of a small annoyance really.  I'm more concerned with the burping which hopefully go away with the new filler neck and the thermostat dripping which just started on mine. Hopefully they have a Thermo program soon. I'm skeptical about all the GPS and Infotaninment gremlins being fixed with jsut a firmware update that they keep promising. I've been hearing an update is coming for almost 5 months now. :( I'd really like my system to be fully functional by end of April when I start my trips to places I'm not familiar with.

They have an update that went to the dealers a couple of weeks ago, it is 2 revisions newer than what is on the web site, it fixed the front speaker thing and other things. Have the radio flashed when you go for the coolant stuff.

Wow, cool.  That's the first I've heard of that.  I'll definitely ask 'em about it. Thanks for the heads up.

I agree with King Glide. The 2014 is the way to go. the issues have been way over exaggerated and most have been simple fixes. My dealer addressed the clutch and fan issues in one simple visit. Radio issue is minor and I am sure will be addressed with the next firmware update. The new innovations HD has built into this bike far out way the bugs in my opinion.
