After almost 50 yrs with Harley, the good, the bad & the ugly.....3 or 4 "We're Backs" from Indian is all I need. Good luck to those who move. I always said an Indian would be a great 2nd scoot, then when finances were right, I made a SERK my 2nd bike. GO FIGURE!!!!!

Like the looks of the Indians ok but probably would not take a chance on buying one, to scared the company will fold yet again! A friend of mine says he is going to buy one when they start the two tone paint scheme.

I think the risk is low they will fold, they are now a 100% Polaris company that made Victory motorcycles for the last 15 years so I think they are solid from a business standpoint.

Great looks and I like to have one in addition to the HD. Did not pull the trigger yet but might get one for spring 2015.

I wouldn't get overly confident just because Polaris owns them......Lots of people around with Polaris jet skis that never thought they would quit making them either!!!

I hadn't considered the last couple versions of Indian Motorcycles to be a "Real" company because they didn't make there own engines. I do think of Indian as a real Company now. I have no plans to buy one at this time but I wouldn't say never.

Lots of naysayers out there about the new Indians as to whether they are going to "make it" this time.  That would be the last thing on my mind if considering a purchase of one of the new Indians.  The previous attempts were overpriced, under engineered stabs at bringing back an Iconic brand without any real capital or network to support the effort.  That is far from the case with the new design...IMO, Polaris did the R&D, engineering, and are producing a iconic brand name in a modern mechanical design at a price point that eats Harley's lunch for what you get in a stock bike.  It's not a CVO, but to get a stock HD to the same level would cost a minimum of 5K more.  They sure don't seem to be having any problems moving the bikes out the door as fast as they can make them, and it's just the first year of production. It's only a matter of a short time before they will have a Tour Pak for the Chieftan, more choices in color schemes, etc.  Within 5 years, at most, I predict they will have a model that directly competes with any HD CVO with regards to paint, chrome bits, sound system, etc. and it will not cost $38,000.

If I was considering a new bike purchase, Indian would be on the top of my list of a V-Twin "cruiser"/"touring" bike.  More bang for the buck than anything else out there right now.

The only thing that would tarnish the new Indian, IMO, would be if they have any reliability issues with the engine, and from what I've read, they did real world homework on that too, so I think that will be a non-issue.

A friend of mine just picked one up like 2 days ago, however because of the weather its sitting in his garage.
I will post more about it when the weather gets better and we can go for a ride together. He says he likes it though
he says its a really smooth ride.

I test rode a cheifian this summer and it handled better than my 2012 cvo ultra but it does weigh less and the motor was just as hot and that was without lowers on it. I learned a long time ago to never say never, but for now I like what I have just fine.

No way in hell nor Wisconsin I would buy a new Harley Davidson.  The company simply hasn't earned my money.  Neither from a product perspective not a consumer affairs/support angle.  If for some reason I absolutely had to buy a new touring bike today it would probably be a Goldwing.  But that's only because I know them better than the new Indians and not because I necessarily like them any better than what is my perception of the new Indians.  Give them just a little more maturity and I'd strongly consider a new Indian were I in the market.  Even without the product maturity if for some reason had to buy a new bike and had to choose between Harley and Indian I'd buy Indian.  After all, the overall fleet reliability would be hard pressed to be any worse than Harley's nor could the general consumer support.

The dealer network stinks.  In SoCal, the closest dealer (according to their dealer search function) is in San Diego, Las Vegas and then Peoria AZ.  Why are they having such a difficult time getting dealers?  There are lots of big Polaris (and Victory) dealers that have not signed up to sell Indian.  I am interested in purchasing an Indian in a few years, but want to see a continued commitment from Polaris, reliability history, and some dealer expansion.  SJ Ron :)

Why not a double insulated DeWalt?

Geez...they are in their first few MONTHS, not years.  Polaris dealers may not pick up Indian because it kind of direct competition. Indian dealers, from the few I've seen, are Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha/Star/Kawasaki dealers.  I feel pretty confident in saying that Polaris dealers will be able to work on Indians, after parts supply catches up, etc.   I will probably never buy another Harley, due to some of the reasons mentioned above.  If Indian gives them some real competition, in about 5 years, maybe HD will wake up and smell the coffee.  I would only buy a used, older HD at this point in time.  Or a Ducati.
