Fullsac
« on: January 28, 2014, 08:38:27 AM »

I see on Fullsac website that they make a DIY kit for the X pipe, muffler inserts and tuner with preset tuning.

I know there are several here that have done this installation. My question is this, is it a pretty easy install? How long should it take? Are there any pitfalls that I should be aware of before starting this project?

After installing hog tunes on my own bike and replacing the cheap hinges on the tour pack and installing an Ipod interface and boom audio on my buddies bike, I feel fairly confident that I can handle this install as well.

Thanks for the info!

Here is a link that will guide you through the mufflers.
The rest is just as easy to do and you have great customer service with Steve if you run into a bind.

If you've got a decent set of basic tools in the garage, a laptop, and a drill motor/dremel with a small bit to grind the welds loose on the stock baffles, it's about a 4 hour job.  The map provided by Steve at Fullsac worked perfectly for my bike.  There is a noticeable seat of the pants difference in performance and driveability.  IMO, it is the most bang for the buck of any exhaust and tuning system on the market.  And you get to choose the level of loudness you want with their multiple baffles.  The 2" cores were PLENTY loud enough for me, but that is a personal preference.

Getting the OEM cores out of the mufflers is the hardest/trickest part. An extra set of hands can be helpful.

Arland is correct above.
I have done probably 20 sets and struggled bad with the first few.
Having the right grinding bit makes all the difference so I went to the source of all Fullsac knowledge.

Reply #3 from Steve at Fullsac made the rest easy.
With the right tools I usually install the mufflers on a bike while on the lift to grind them out. (that's the easiest way to control them)
Once the welds are gone I take the muffler off the bike and run a pipe (1 1/2" OD pipe) through the other end of the muffler to push out the stock baffle.
The rest is easy as following Steve's directions.
The key is having the right tools.

Follow the steps on the link above and you will be fine. Just make sure you are having a good day before starting as patience is a must when grinding the welds. Don't get too agressive and all will be a-ok

Just completed this project a couple weeks ago...I went with the DX pipe and 2" baffles...I'm not much with computer software so I had my son who is the whiz load the map...The baffle replacement was pretty simple. I used a 60,000 rpm grinder with a carbide burr...Be careful that you don't distort the muffler opening when you shove that piece of pipe in to drive out the old baffle. The pipe kinda wants to bind to one side as your pounding...Haven't had a chance to ride since completing it cause it's friggin winter here real bad right now...Sounds awesome in my garage though.

I just did my 2014 a month ago... 2" with screens!!!
Used a dremel with a cut off wheel. Took my time and the two welds came off like butter..
Cut insulation 20" which gave me two wraps inside. (40" worth was shoved in there from factory) Plenty of space between pipe and screen once installed.
After trying many other brands, I will only install Fullsac pipes and slip ons on my bikes... No comparison with the quality and fit !!!!

Besides Steve is one hell of a guy and will help in anyway via phone or email...

You'll have fun installing everything.  Hardest part is removing the baffles.
