Although I've had the radio and heated grips go south on me, I've had a hell of a lot more problems with the engine and drivetrain.

I'd say the report is accurate. I'm also going to say that my 2006 CVO Ultra is the best bike I have owned, and that includes Hondas, Kawasakis, and, BMWs.

Yes, but have you ever worked on a Yamaha. My son bought a V Star, nice bike, absolute PITA to work on. Can you say, pull the pipes to change the oil filter. Pull the tank to change the plugs. When done I was thinking of making it into a planter box at it's next service interval.

"Rack up the miles" is still a relative thing.  Compared to other bikes; perhaps.  Compared to the more general automotive fleet an oft ridden bike still rarely gets more miles than an 18 year girl's Escort her first year at college.  And compared to automotive standards of reliability these bikes suck.
Didn't see anything in the article about cars, so my comments were about the article.  After 43 years of riding, though, I would amend the highlighted statement to read "Compared to automobiles of similar quality and date of manufacture, bike reliability sucks."  Of course, that's based on bikes and cars as a whole, not the anecdotal "one bike compared to one car."   8)

Most reliable street bike I've ever owned is a Yamaha V-Star.  The most disliked bike I've ever owned is a Yamaha V-Star.

I'm good with my Harley, Consumer Reports and all...

And when I grow up and want to buy a touring bike, it shall be a Road Glide.

HD rules is all I'm sayin'.

Cam

I hear the song of a 2015 Screamin Eagle Road Glide in your garage.
Some may call it a rock-n-roll tune but I'm thinking it's more of a love song!

CR's reports don't hold much water with me. Bought a Bosch, that they rated higher than any other, dishwasher that didn't wash dishes...even after throwing almost $2000 of parts at it under warranty.
And a Kenmore fridge that blew three motherboards in 6 months in spite of it being rated the best fridge by far.
Now, I just buy what I like......and I like Ruby!
