Tune, or Dyno Tune?? One is around 2x$ of the other...

There are the 'Docs' of our world, that can wring 10/10ths out of a bike, but the average dealer (who the OP is dealing with) would be hard pressed to get any more out of (or equal to) it than  a proper canned map from a competent source (FullSac~TTS, FuelMoto~DynoJet, (some)Dealers~SEPST, etc...)

The OP sounds like he just wants a better sounding exhaust (without leaning out the motor too much) not a LSR bike...

Yes, I was specifically asking if a dynamometer is necessary on an SE bike. I will have a 2014 Breakout CVO delivered next month. Ordered Bassani Pro-Street Turnouts and an EFI Pro Super Tuner. But the service tech., a man I know and trust, told me he found that SE bikes usually require a dynamometer (dyno run) to top hesitation and popping on deceleration.

Why not contact Bassani and see what they recommend for there pipe? That way you got an answer from the people who made the pipe.

The '09 SERG (I know some things have changed since then) with the V&H FuelPak had no hesitation or popping on deceleration.

Since you trust your tech, and are relying on him to take care of your new baby,  go with his recommendations.

Congrats BTW! ~ How many times have you looked at the brochure since you pulled the trigger? ~ Tell the truth... LOL!

HAHA!  I bet a million.  I sure would be.  I looked up that pipe on the internet.  Ummmmm....  I would THINK about getting some sort of tuning device.  Those short pipes need some work, generally, to pull them into a nice running bike.  I apologize, as I should have looked at the pipe before saying anything, we all, here, basically ride baggers and think of bagger pipes.  Those ARE nice looking pipes, but ask around and ask some tuning guys what they think of shorty pipes.

I believe the bike would run more than just noticeably better with a tune from a good dyno tuner. Is it worth it? For me it's an emphatic yes! For someone who may be broke or not mind the motor running hot, throttle response being lethargic, power not being as good as it could be, maybe it's not worth it. The customer keeps demanding larger cubic inch motors whole the EPA demands tighter restrictions. This is a "perfect storm" for crappy running bikes that run very hot and feel lazy. EPA and performance are like water and oil, they do not mix. With an air cooled motor that greatly fluctuates in temperatures, heat is the enemy of your engines components and electrical parts. In the end, what the customer wants and is willing to pay for is his call. I personally can't imagine buying a CVO "the flagship" Harley Davidson with the cost they demand for new ones these days and not tuning it. It can extend the life of the bike and unlock the opportunity to enjoy the bike much more. That said, it's not worth the price of a tune if you just take it to any ole guy with a dyno but if you get a true custom map that is developed throughout and every table is optimized, the difference is well worth the money spent IMO. A bike that has a spot on tune done to it is something you will notice and appreciate each and every time you push the start button, roll on the throttle and well tuned bikes tend to even shift better IMO.
