As many of you know I have suffered several catastrophic failures on the 110" motors in my CVOs. The first in my '07 was due to the rear cylinder exhaust valve guide dropping and preventing the valve from closing and, oh well, you can guess the rest. Then after 60k on the '07's replacement motor it decided to eat its rear cylinder exhaust valve lifter and its inner cam bearing. Don't know which failed first but it was so catastrophic that even the lifter bore was nicked resulting in a second new motor. Then my '12 had a failure on its 'C' lifter at only 22k resulting in, you guessed it, a new motor.
So, anyway, my '07 now has about 7k on its latest motor and I just changed out the lifters to S&S Premium High Performance Tappets and put in the Torrington full complement inner cam bearings. This bike went out of ESP in November and I'm being proactive against a repeat failure (I hope!). Unfortunately my '12 just entered its ESP so I plan to stick with the moco parts and if they fail, well chit, the ESP can just fix it.
But I do feel so much better about my '07 now.
