Mango on a Mission

Another new addition to my ever growing family!  It is no surprise that those that know me are aware of how much I love my Yorkies!  Well, I've taken on a new adventure.   :P.  For those that don't know me well, I have partial paralyzes in my right leg from a MC/car accident in 2011.  It left me unable to continue working. I'm also a Veteran of the US Army.  Now you ask.., where am I going with this story.  ::). This is where I'm going!

Meet Mango!  She is a 2 yr old paralyzed part Yorkie, part Cairn Terrier.  I was accepted and matched with Mango through a rescue in Fort Worth Texas that places paralyzed dogs with Vets to work with retired/disabled Vets at clinics and hospitals to bring them happiness and emotional support.  Mango and I share the same fate with a car and as a retired Vet, I can't think of anything that would bring me more satisfaction than to be able to work with our hero's.  Mango in her wheel cart and I will visit the Veteran Hospitals rolling up and down the hallways providing emotional support to our troops that are also over coming their own disabilities.  If we can bring one smile to one soldiers face that day, than we have accomplished our mission.  I know our mission seems small to many but in our hearts it is HUGH.

Mango is in Texas at "boot camp" getting her training but in a few weeks she will be flown up here to me.  You can follow her journey on FB at Mango on a Mission.  We started her FB when she started her training.

Good for you with the rescue.

We have friends that have Yorkies and one was paralyzed. They had 18 great years with the pup.

You should have a long and rewarding relationship. BZ

This is a great story Judy.  I literally just got home from the weekend veterinary ER and having my Greyhound put down.  Seeing your picture there was the reminder of there always being something next I needed just a little bit right now.  Thanks and the little dog looks very cute.  Hope you enjoy each other for a very long time.  Hate to steal another person's moves but here are a couple more of those dancing bananas.  :bananarock: :bananarock:

What you are taking on is HUGE, awesome and admirable. My best friend served in the Marines for 16 years. He works as a volunteer with the Wounded Warrior Anglers and I help him where we take out veterans that have been injured either physically or mentally on fishing trips. We don't get paid for what we do but are much richer in the right ways because of it and I am sure you feel the same way.
