Selecting the tunes.
« on: March 01, 2014, 09:03:53 PM »

Hey all, Just a quick questions. I just installed a I-Pod interface ( 2010 Ultra ) and was wondering how you guy's set up the I-pod play options on the stereo.  I will be using a I-Phone with tons of songs on it. So what works best, just set to shuffle, or play lists, or by artist's?  What works for you guy's. Cheers.

I also have lots of songs and all different types so I set up playlist which are easy to scroll thru on our head units and then "shuffle" the different playlists.

Shuffle is where I usually set it. If I don't want to listen to the tune that comes up, I just bump it to the next song.

Depends on how many songs and genre's you have on the device.  For instance, there is stuff I might listen to while chillin' on the couch that wouldn't make a good road tune or music to exercise by, if you know what I mean, so I make different playlists to suit.  You can still just "play all" if you want, but having playlists set up ahead of time is nice.

I have a couple of different play lists set up, but I find that the iPod is still a real crappy device on shuffling.   If it is a short ride, I just bump a song….if it's a long ride I sometimes just have it play all, and it will do the songs alphabetically.  I can always pick a different part of the alphabet to start with and it hit's every song on the iPod that way.

shuffle all songs is best.  It's frustrating to run out of songs on the interstate with no exits ahead.
