Throttlle motor stumble
« on: March 15, 2014, 02:16:11 AM »

I did a 113'' build and put a SE 58mm TB on using stock 4.35 injectors from stock 96"motor. I have PV and Pro tune kit for it had bad throttle stumble off idle and would stall easy enriched throttle accel. table and fixed that when you take off and accelerate  10% or so T.P. it rolls smooth and sweet but at 60 mph around 2470 rpm  6th gear motor seems to lose power when you try to twist past 15% throttle feels like injectors cant keep up you have to twist out to 75% throttle to get things going. I will change up to SE 5.3 to see if this  fixes problem with rolling acceleration  As this seems to be a lean issue. Steve ? Doc? any input or thought for this tuning or other.

You definitely need the 5.3 injectors. If you were using TTS I would suggest plugging in the flight recorder and gathering Vtune data to dial it in. I'm not familiar with the street tune procedure with PV or Pro Tune. Push the auto tune button and see if it shapes up?

Log injector PW during your issue.  At 3000 rpm you need a pulse width of over 30ms to be about 80% duty cycle.  I don't think that is it.

Bigger injectors are probably needed.  Log PW around 5500-6000 and calculate duty cycle.  If the vision doesn't have this tool.  Just use the one in Mastertune.

It is a tuning issue but it could be one of several. While the injector you have is too small to make peak power I doubt that is causing what you are describing. Not knowing how PV deals with torque management also leaves that as a possible cause. As Jason has stated get the tune done first and see if that doesn't solve it because the AFR/Lambda could be far enough off causing it too.

Okay thanks. It seems to me that when I adjust acceleration tables to give me a smooth throttle from take off it affects throttle roll-on you can especially feel the power drop in fifth and sixth gear when you twist the throttle from 60 miles an hour. If I set my acceleration tables closer to the stock setting from dynojet's base map. Take off is so lean that the motorcycle really wants to stall and does often but the throttle roll-on is much better in fifth and sixth gear. I can adjust the throttle acceleration tables to a happy so-called medium but I'm hoping that the 5.3 fuel injectors will help me on both ends. I am going to try to attach a zip file of my happy medium map maybe you can look at it and give me some suggestions or you can tell me if something is really out of adjustment. While I can see my learned at the VE tables for front and rear cylinders I am clueless as to what they mean besides the numbers telling me whether it's running lean or rich.

What base map did you start with?  IMO the timing is pretty jacked up.  When you open the throttle to take off.  Hitting 60 kpa in nothing at 1250 and your targeted timing is 5.  Then look at your 100 kpa column.  2.67 @ 2500, 3.20 @ 3500?

I haven't used a 577 in a 113 but I have tuned a couple in a 110/ 103's.  None with a vision.  I would look at the CVO base maps for a starting point.

The base map was sent to me from dynojet  according  to Mods. I went to PV downloads and pulled a CVO 110 map for a 2011 FLHTCU, unless someone can tell me where to find CVO base maps you mentioned, I will use that spark advance table. will try Steve at GMR I know he has tuned some very close similar builds don't know if he has used PV on any. I went with power Vision and Pro tune kit. Because there are NO Really Good Dyno tuners around VA. Thank you hrdtail78 and Steve Cole for your input. to bad there are no web sites that bank Build Maps by builds and  tuners used.

Take the stock 110 map bump the  CI up to at least 124 and if you get 5.3 set the inj size at 4.9,.... PV  unit  needs a huge amount of room. You may find that even 124CI  is not large enough but its a starting point that POS  map they sent you is not right stopping messing it . You may end up hurting the engine.

You might contact FuelMoto and see if they can shed any light.

Did not Purchase from them.
But GMR is helping best they can and I didn't buy tuner from them, Thanks Steve !! Your CS is GREAT!!!
Dynojet has Maps they don't post on internet you have to contact them. I got that remarkable MAP from them as a base according to my build, supposed to be working on new one for me ??????
Will install 5.3 injectors and start Pro Tune Mapping with different base map and will go from there.
As for the Power Vision Tuner??? IIII'mm not Impressed. :nixweiss:
