trade it in or keep it?
« on: March 16, 2014, 11:57:36 PM »

Although I don't have much time on the cvo road king I really miss my street glide, the batwing i miss the most along with the placement of the gauges. i feel like I'm looking down way too much to check speed and such. i also like the new radios/gps units they put on the specials. i don't like the after market fairings because of the lack of functionality and they lack gauge integration. I'm also not fond of the standard CVO issues I'm experiencing thus far (the lifter chatter, the chrome bubbling and the noise it makes while on the trickle charger). the lifter chatter I'm being told is normal but fear its a catastrophic failure waiting to happen and the other issues i haven't bothered the dealer with yet.
I'd like to wait to see if a 2015 cvo street glide rears its head but fear my bike will devalue even more in that advent.
so i contemplate trading the cvo road king in for a new street glide special. I'm sure the dealer is going to crank me hard to do it.
what are your thoughts?

The 15 s will be out in 4 months.  I would wait and see what will be available.  I wouldn't worry about losing on what you have at all.

You've already taken the biggest depreciation hit - driving it off the lot.  You may as well wait a few more months and see what the 2015 CVO's bring.

Several years ago I bought a new bike a couple of months before the new model - big mistake. Wait and see what the 15s look like and if you don't see something you like, find a 14 at reduced price

From what the rumor mill is saying 2015 is going to be much the same as 2014 with paint color changes. The RG is due to appear again for 15 which will basically be a SG with the new fairing or so the rumor mill has it.

It would take something with some really awesome/different paint and graphics to make me pull the trigger and trade a 13' CVO Road King. JMO.

so far from what I'm hearing in the trade value I think I'll be keeping it unless something jumps out in 2015 that says have to have.
the dealers around here are saying that the 14s are selling without discounting them so they're not discounting them. I'm sure this will change when 15s come out and they still have some of the 25 14s they have in stock. then I'll be looking for deeper discounts.
with the 15s so close you'd think they'd start looking to unload the current stock.
one dealer has at least 15 ul in stock. the classics appear to be selling, they only have 3 of those left but i don't think the uls are selling very well being they still have so many.
