What's your compensator history?
« on: March 17, 2014, 08:07:16 PM »

In the past 103,000 miles on my 08 CUSE3, I've chewed up 3 compensators.
2nd one went in @ 30,169 miles, May, 2010 - replaced original with #40274-08.
3rd one @ 76,780 miles, Oct, 2012 - replaced with #40296-06A, "improved".
4th one @101,115 miles, Jan, 2014 - replaced with #42200064, so called SE Big Twin compensator.

How about yours?

Mine went out about 20k. Still on the replacement which was the first update version. Now 42k still ok although does show some wear. But now has a 131 attached and has had since.

Don't remember the exact mileage but I have 70K on my 08 and this is the 3rd one I put in plus the dealer put one in on warranty as well.  I installed the new version late last fall but went with a new primary cover with the oil trays since it was showing it's age.  Not cheap to keep installing parts that you know are going to fail.  Hopefully the aftermarket is getting closer to a replacement.  This may be my last year of riding so I hope it makes it through the season.

Changed my original comp on my 08 at 32532 miles.  I put the one that was available at the time (40274-08A).  Way better when bike starts now.  No more loud bang, but the old comp that I took out still looked as good as new.  No noticeable wear that I could see.  I still think it was a good move to make the change though.

2007. First one at 20K, second one at 40K, third one at 60K, now at 80K and primary plug at oil change showed a lot of "fur"

Im thinking there might be a link between what RPM you cruise at and conpensator failure.
What do you cruise at? And how mant miless do you have on your compensator.
17,000 miles stock compensator. 119/119 for 8,000 of them. 2009 Dyna
between 2800 and 3000 rpm

The link between failure and the comp is simple.  Lack of lubrication,  :2vrolijk_21:
