I have a 2012 Limited and after putting 1K miles on a rental 2014 (aka extended demo ride) from central coast to Vegas and back, I can safely say it's not worth the dollars and effort to upgrade; at least not for me.
I like the Blue combo but across the board the colors for the CVO Limiteds in 2014 don't grab me; again, not enough to trade-up so soon.
From a handling perspective I did not notice anything remarkably different. The fairing vent did nothing special. In fact, it was pointed out to me (and I verified on the road) that although you can close it, to do so results in buffeting and bobble head. I left it open but wasn't any extra bit cooler. As a plus, it does give you someplace to put your glasses when stopping for gas.
There were two things that really stood out. The updated handlebar controls and the new infotainment system. The combination of both means you really don't have to ever take your hands off the grips except maybe to scratch your ....
I very much liked the new controls. They bring HD controls more in line with European and metric controls. There's a high beam flash/pass option now, the trip/odo/time/DTE toggle is on the left side controls and no longer on the fairing. This also gives you info on air and oil temp since you lose those gauges in favor of the larger radio face. Hazards are a single push up on the starter button instead of the double push turn signal method. I wasn't sure about the big touchscreen but it grew on me really fast. The radio buttons on the bars are little joysticks as opposed to up/dn L/R toggles. You can do everything from the bars now where on my HK, I need to push buttons on the face to toggle XM channels and preset stations. The USB/phone storage area on the right side of the radio interface is great. I plugged in a standard USB drive with MP3s into it and the system indexed them all and gave me full control and the ability to assign favorite presets from my playlist. Audio sound quality was a lot better than my limited.
Are those good improvements? Absolutely. Are they worth trading up a couple model years later? For me, no. I already have my 2012 setup with Satellite radio and a Stage I the way I want and my bike and me have already bonded. We're BFFs now. To trade up would mean starting a new relationship with a new bike all over again and resetting the payment schedule. Boo.
Like blacktop and others have mentioned, there have been some big price jumps the last couple years. There might be some internal updates I am not factoring in but for me the tangible is the upgraded stereo and control sets. Just not sure a few new buttons are worth that much extra cheese.
