Questions about installing Apes on 2013 SERK
« on: March 23, 2014, 10:52:16 AM »

Gonna install Different bars on the 2013 SERK. Gonna go with 12-14" apes.
I have some questions about picking the correct bars for the bike.
1- are the stock risers the bars mount in 1 1/4" risers or do the bars reduce   down to 1" where they mount in the risers?
2-where the stock hand controls mount on 1 1/4" bars are the bars reduced to 1" or do the stay 1 1/4" where the controls mount?
3- did you use new bushings in the risers?
4- anybody get 1 1/2" bars? how did you need new risers?
5- have any pixs of 1 1/2" bars mounted on the bike?
thanks,BR

Answers from my experience and point of view:
1. stock riser mounting area is 1 1/4"
2. bars are reduced to 1" at ends for control mounting
3. did not mess with the bushings
4. 1 1/2" would be cool
5. I don't have those =)

RoadMonkey had all I know, but wanted to add:
If I was to do it again, I would go with this guyz, www.vindikta.com. he has a set special made for SERKs. I didn't because of the cost, went with Wild Ones. Didn't know, until installing, I had to order an adapter for the risers and that added 60 bucks & a week to the job. Make the cost a whole lot closer......whats that they say about hindsight????

When going to 12-14 in apes you'll want to change the riser bushings, it's not hard, it just cost another $40-$50, for parts .
