Baseline the BO last weekend, really disappointed.
« on: March 23, 2014, 07:03:55 PM »

I took my Breakout to Fast by few dyno in El Paso and was disappointed by the numbers. It netted 91/91 on the dyno, and found that the dealership installed a 103 base map in my power vision from DynoJet. The graph was all over the place, not even worth posting. I was hoping to see at least in the >100.... So what you guys think about my baseline????

Oh man! those are the worst numbers I've ever seen on a BO! Something must be terribly wrong!   :nervous:

Call Dyno Jet or Jamie at Fuel Moto and get a good map for your bike.  Should solve the problem.

I'd be more than happy to help with a custom tune.  :)

How does the bike run and feel to you?  :nixweiss:

I agree a good tune is in order.  :2vrolijk_21:

Don't get caught up in chasing numbers, it could get expensive.   ;)

A 110 with the upgrade kit (cam and compression) should do a whole lot better than low 90's.  Depending on the exhaust system used, I'd expect to see something in the 100-110 range.  You most definitely need to come up with a good tune from someone who knows what they're doing.  This is why I constantly remind people that your "friendly Harley dealership" is not necessarily the best place to do this stuff.

Btw, if I read your post correctly you didn't pay this Fast place to tune the bike, but just had them make a dyno pull.  How many pulls did they do, what were the conditions, and what correction factor did they use?  If they just did a single pull I wouldn't hang my hat on the results.

Well PV does not have the map selection that HD or TTS has . There is no BO cal in the current set up from PV...  SO that shop loaded what they can get.
Now you can call Jamie or DJ but if you think that you are going to get a custom map that is spot on its not going to happen. Jamie does not give out maps unless you bought it from him.. ( did you?) and last I heard he did not have a cal for that.. I have one coming in from Tyler for a tune.. ( he did buy his from FM)  DJ is going to create a  base line style map  and tell you to try it.

Getting a tune that is correct  is important.  El Paso is clear across the state. Been through there many times..  The shop that you went to cannot tune the bike?

I have a PV from Fuelmoto and it's nice and runs well but I agree a full tune by a worthy tuner is in order.

Jswerve  bagger map that is super common vs CVO BO.   :2vrolijk_21: I fully understand what you are saying its just not a common bike and it varies just enough.

No I meant that I was still going to get my bike tuned even though I have a working map :)

I dropped by the dyno shop (fast By Few) before I headed out of town and to see what kind of shop he (Mr. Few) was running and to pick his brain a little.

He not a rookie and he answered all the questions pretty good.

1. He stated he it was going to take him a good full day to build a good stern map.
2. He wanted to see the gear ratio and baseline the bike.
3. He also got with dynojet and sent in the bike info in and started a base map for the BO, with dynojet.
4. He pulled 6 runs on each cylinder for his base runs.

He told me he was impressed with the bike because he never seen a Harley top out at a 164 mph before. I noticed really quick that the bike was running extremely lean, 16.5 up to 21 AFR at an average. He also stated that we have two things working against us here in El Paso and it was 4000 feet elevation and hot. He's never messed with the PV before and wanted to sit down with it and figure out all the bells and whistles.

He contacted me today and stated he built a base map for the bike and was ready to put it back on the dyno when I get back.

I'll keep everybody posted on the outcome and if you guy see anything I might need to ask or make sure I get done, yell at me.....

Yeah, he seems really excited to work with the bike and to play with the power vision. He noticed really fast that dynojet did not have a tune for the bike. He also stated that the dealership threw what they could hands on. I think he will turn out to be a good tuner, I'll give him a chance. If not I'll head to Ft. Worth!!!!!

I didn't buy my PV from FM, but I have talked to Jamie several time and found out real quick nothing is for free.

I'm in Dallas now if you know a guy that might have a good base map in the area (hint hint). :P
