I considered it but decided on not, it's another 50 Lbs to pick up when I take a dive.

This MC will be 80% off raid and tops 20% on road.

You can't have too many motorcycles!

Even if they aren't all Harleys! :thumbsup

The right number of motorcycles to own?  1 less than it takes to get a divorce over.

Does that mean you'll be taking the GS to Sturgis this year?

80% off road?, there are much lighter and better bikes for off road.
There is no full size ADV I would consider to ride 80% offroad.

I am seriously considering selling the CVO and buy the GS instead.

Apples and oranges.
If you're considering trading you probably should.
There is probably a GS forum you can join also.
The CVO can't do what the GS can and the GS can't do what the CVO can.
Like I said, apples and oranges and if you trade the CVO for a GS be prepared for a big monetary loss.
Clearly an informed purchaser of your CVO will be the winner in that deal.
Good luck, they are both great bikes.

Keeping both for now. Will see which one I enjoy riding the most. If I enjoy both I will hold on to them, if one stays in the garage most of the time it will go, it's a freaking toy so no big deal.

Some planned rides for the GS are the continental divide, Colorado backcountry, and maybe in a year or two all the way down to Chilie.

Russia and Kazakstan seem like fun to.

Plus there is a guy that arranges tours on the old silk highway all the way to China, that looks like a great ride!

Off road is not MX. Only 5% of the worlds road are paved so in essence the rest is off road if you count gravel and fire roads.

I've had BMW's, Harley's, and about every Japanese bike made.  All through the 50 or so bikes I've owned (up to 10 at once) there's always been a Harley in my garage because while I enjoy all bikes, I feel best riding a Harley.  I still ride off road but currently do it on a YZ250F because I wouldn't want to pick up a BMW Adventurer while trail riding. I would consider adding a BMW GS to my stable but not for off-road.
