2012 CVO Ultra Amp Relo
« on: March 24, 2014, 06:02:06 PM »

I've always wanted to make my tour pack removable. But that pesky amp! While getting my 10,000k service down at my nearby HD dealer, the subject came up about removing the tour pack. Brian, the service mgr. told me that they had relocated an amp for a customer putting it between the saddle bag and rear wheel.
So today, I made a plate to mount the amp out of some diamond plate that I had.
I removed the tour pack by just unbolting it from the stock mount. Kinda hide the wires under the seat for now. I still need a place to hold the license plate, and I'll run the bike to make sure this mount for the amp is going to be ok.

Hmm. Don't know why that pic is flipped sideways, but here's another of the clearance between the rotor and amp.

Bumping this up
How well did this mod work out?

Are the bolts that go to the backplate for the bag mount flush or recessed ? or is the amp kinda bowed out where the bolts go thru

I like that method better than inside the saddle bag taking up space. Now that it has been a few months have you had any issues? I too want to go to a 4 point dockable tour pack but didn't want the amp in my bag. What docking kit did you use for the tour pack?

Sorry don't have great pics but I did essentially the same thing. Did the removable tour pak in conjunction with extended bags and fender. Worked out very well and have had no issues.
