Ordered TW-7H Cams today and a Question
« on: March 24, 2014, 08:20:40 PM »

I was going to go w Fueling 574 but changed today after talking to Bob Woods .. Him asking my weight? two-up? style? his attitude sucked me in!!  :P I also ordered his lifters! he gave me part#s for push rods, anyways ... Do I need a Heavier clutch or will the Hyd. hold up and I was going to go w 2.0 Core from Fullsac but didn't bite yet, I will take kudos on that choice or I suck for such a thought  ;) ??

Thanks for your thoughts

Stock clutch will be fine. I would cancel the order on the Woods lifters though we've removed many sets...stick with s&s or fueling HP+ lifters.

I have the TW7H in two 110's, stock clutch is fine like Jim said above.
Both bikes also have the 2" baffles.

My TW 7H-6 cams with Super Tuner, 2:1 D&D did 106 hp/ 118 tq. That's pretty standard without doing head work. I put in a Rivera Pro Clutch, my choice, dealer also went with Fueling HP lifters.

What kind of problems are you seeing with the Woods lifters? I put the Tw-7H in my SEUC5 along with the Woods lifters, 23,000 miles ago. Maybe I need to replace them before my luck runs out?

Nothing against the brand or owner and the lifters stand up strong for what they were designed for, a car motor running light weight multi-viscosity oil at a small amount of preload.
There are others that work better over the long haul.

We have not run them since they first came out, its been a few years, but most all of the sets we sold have been replaced with Fueling or S&S. The problems were they would bleed down and become noisy, especially at startup sometimes taking several seconds to pump up. We also had some that would bleed off going down the road then pump back up..

Using overly aggressive cams such as woods or some of T mans larger grinds isn't helping the lifter situation at all.

So far the S&S premiums have been working better with the more aggressive grinds.....standard Morel lifters leave here with (most) cams and nobody has had any problems yet...according to the box about 32 sets of them.  :2vrolijk_21:

We've trusted S&S lifters here for almost 20 years now.
We won't use clients bikes to beta test something that might work..........
