Yep, never seen a dog that wouldn't snap up a cat tootsie roll, given the oportunity.  MMMMMMMgood...before my cat of 18 years passed on, the big adventure for the Terriers was cat poop hunting in the backyard.  Wouldn't take them long to find it and go to ground underneath all the pine straw and leaves.   Hor'douvres for the canine family...cheaper than Milk Bones...

Yeah, speaking of that............last month we had the septic tank installer come out to change the filter in our septic tank.  Since we have an engineered system (a mound for the leech field, if you will), we have to change the filter in the tank every six months, so the system doesn't backup into the house from the filter getting clogged with.....................solids.  So, Sid is outside doing his job, and I'm writing a check while sitting at the table on the back porch.  Sid pulls the filter, which is about 2 feet long by 4 inches wide in diameter, lays it in the grass, and proceeds to install the new filter.  Annie Bea jumps up, trots over to the spent filter..................and has a snack!!!!

ACK!

I get up early this morning to rip some MP3's and check the website and lo and behold - my faith in humanity is restored again.  Don posts an EXCELLENT cat hurl offering, and Reg relates a tale of dog culinary delights that has almost made me lose the desire to start the coffee - must stop laughing first.

Our new beagle Sophie refuses to hurl in the house so far.  May be forced to reconnoiter the rear perimeter of the yard - or maybe she just eats it again, like the other dogs used to......  :confused5:

BEEEEUUUUUTIFUL pup there, Nige.  I have a friend/coworker who lives in Hartselle, AL who has some British Labs.  Earlier this summer, he flew to Great Britain to pick up three dogs.  He has started his own kennel called "Dixie Brit Gundogs."  He provides pups to owners after initial field training.  Renea and I have given thought to getting one.......just to have as a pet........simply because we love Labs, and the British Labs are smaller and more docile than the American ones.  Anyway, we're just speculating right now..............especially since Tim missed one of his bitch's estrus cycles.  That'll cost him.

She's a really nice dog. 11 months old and as good as gold, no chewing - apart from her toys - and I already have her trained to the whistle. Next 12 months will see her getting her full gun dog training, from me, ready for the 2008/2009 season.

Same w/ our lab. She'll search the yard endlessly looking for the special treat and if she finds it she's in a quandry as to eat it or do a header into it. She seems to prefer eating the older tootsie rolls and doing the head dive into fresher deposits. The pungency of some of her caked on whatevers is beyond description.

More bones:  Back in the day, when Annie Bea was a pup, I used to be a hunter.  I had my coveralls hung in the barn along with my overboots.........both liberally slathered in fox urine.  So, I come back out for the afternoon hunt, and Annie Bea was rolling around on my coveralls, scraping her head around the lower parts of the legs.

Absolutely!

Our Sophie consumed mass quantities of boiled peanuts along with their shells yesterday and I expected her to offer a brownish hurl at any moment.  Just try to imagine my disappointment when she went about her normal routine which includes semi-begging for beer drippings from empty bottles.

I found this one surfing - the color contrast of baby chick yellow vs earthen brown background is quite stark and indicates a boldly textured hue combined with a painterly quality to this canine's gastronomical artistry.....   :-\
