This is a classic case of semantics.
Yes, a SE still remains in the 2014 FLHRSE for now, but it is not referred to anyone on the planet as a Screamin’ Eagle Road King. Just ask any dealer or Harley corporate themselves, if you disagree. The 2014 is a CVO Road King and in my opinion should be listed as a separate discussion under the Custom Vehicle Discussions board. If for no other reason, for the sake of consistency like the CVO Limited, CVO Softail Deluxe, CVO Breakout, CVO Road Glide Custom, CVO Street Glide, and CVO Softail Convertible. Otherwise, drop CVO and Screamin’ Eagle on ALL the discussions and the problem is solved. It should go without saying if it is a discussion on CVOHarley.com, it is a bike produced by the Custom Vehicle Operations division of HD anyway.
Screamin’ Eagle Road King has connotations of an older bike and CVO Road King has connotations of a newer bike (regardless of the FL_ _ _ _ designation), but I can tell I am not going to win this debate. Besides, I am getting a little blue in the face.
I am a pretty smart fella and if I was confused why CVOHarley.com chose to bury a CVO Road King under a Screamin’ Eagle Road King discussion about specific custom vehicles, I guarantee others will be confused in the future, but if no one else is concerned, neither am I. Fortunately for me, I won’t be the one repeatedly answering the same question.
Thanks
