2014 Road King CVO - Price?
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:38:46 AM »

How much are folks paying for these bikes?

I rode one yesterday and tried to negotiate but they were unwilling to come down below MSRP.

Is that normal?

I was looking at the Tribal orange one, they would take $1000 off the green one they had but I was not interested in it.

Thanks for any responses.

Price is more or less determined by supply & demand.  Of course we have all seen the evidence of greed when referring to the CVO line up.  If you are close to the MSRP you have done better than most, but you have some buyers that have deep pockets and a couple of thousand here or there does not make much difference as long as they get what they want.  Knowing your market in your area will be a good guide.

My experience in the Atlanta area is if you can buy a new CVO for MSRP then that's about as good a price as you'll get.  I've seen some marked up to $2,500 above MSRP.  In 2012 I bought my CVO street glide new for exactly MSRP and am glad I did as there weren't that many to be had and usually they were either pre-sold or sold soon after arriving at the dealer.

You want to try and buy one in the UK. Only 15 or so have been released here. When I bought mine, I couldn't test ride one anywhere, I only managed to sit on an Orange one. Then the only one I could get was the Green one. Really love the Green.

Thank you all for the input, it is much appreciated.

I decided to go ahead and purchase a tribal orange Road King CVO. I added a black sissy bar and a rear matching passenger back rest. I also added the 7 year extended warranty and pre purchased maintenance for the first 4 services.

If anyone is interested this is the rough break out:

Bike = 28,500
Freight and setup = 1,000
GA Sales Tax = 1991.25
7 year warranty, tires included = 2000
5K, 10K, 15K, 20K service = 1400 (supposed to be 1 free service)

Sissy bar + Pad = 550

Total = ~35,400

I am 47 years old and this is the most expensive vehicle I have ever bought and it's a bike! Yikes.

At least my priorities are in order after all these years.

Congrats on your new CVORK!
Like fly-dog, I too got a hell of a deal. I guess it helps when you buy a few bikes from the same dealer.
I've also sent them a few sales, not just lookers.
I paid less than MSRP Plus tax and tags for a blue 2013 CVORK.

Nothing is better than getting the bike you want.  I am sure you will still be smiling for years to come.  Enjoy! :apple:

I had an experience somewhat similar to FXD.  I tried several dealerships in the early months of 2013 through the summer. No one would go below MSRP, and a few wouldn't budge from being 2k over it. Kept checking dealers throughout early fall, and by late September I found a dealer about 45 miles from me that had a Sapphire that he needed to unload because he had 2 2014's coming in the next day. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted for my trade-in as well as well as the bike's price dropping 2k from MSRP.

So, point of the story is if you want the best chance of getting a better deal on a CVO, wait until the next year model is out (if they are making one) and find a dealer who wants to move the old stock.

Congrats on the new bike. Got the Orange black as well and paid MSRP. The 2014 CVO road kings are selling well from what I heard from all the dealers in the area. Seems that there won't be too many left.

Congrats on your new ride!

I know the feeling, my '14 CVO Road King was my most expensive new vehicle too.

After a lot of shopping around, I came to the same conclusion as most people.  If you got the bike at or below MSRP, especially this early in the model year, you did well.

With the maintenance plan and pre-delivery accessories, I was at $35K and change too.

For some reason, a lot of dealers, including 2 in my area, had 2013 CVO road kings left. There were some great deals to be made when the 2014 models came out last summer. It will be interesting to see if the same thing happens with 2014 models...

This was the bike you scored this past December after coming back from the sandbox? Sweet deal.

Amazingly, that was still above the dealer invoice @ $23,999... but not by much.

Yea, that's the bike. And I actually scored it while I was in the sandbox. I haven't even seen it. It's sitting at Bumpus HD in Murfreesboro.

I like your blog. interesting and entertaining.  I also ride a BMW in addition to the hog. You should post the article and pics of the Motolights you installed on the front folks. They look awesome! I'm seriously thinking of copying your setup.
