Oil Leak on 14 CVO Break Out?
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:49:54 PM »

Hello all,

I was wiping my bike down today after my ride home and noticed what appears to be an oil leak. I only have 900 miles on the bike with V&H Big Radius 2 Into 2 and a SERT. Can this be a sign of problems to come?

Thanks for your help in advance

I've heard there can be issues with the connector seating/sealing properly. Don't believe it is a sign unless its due to excess pressure. Another trip to the dealer is in order.

That's what I was thinking, something with the connection. I will have it looked out when it goes in for the 1,000 mile service. Thanks for your help.

There's another thread around here on the same problem, with some conflicting information.  Some feel it's a connector problem, while others claim it's just residual oil in the connector from the assembly process and once it is blown out and cleaned off the problem will disappear.  It may be worth trying to blow any oil out, clean the connection thoroughly, and then see if you still see a leak after your next ride.  Of course you could also just take it to the dealer and let them do the diagnostics and cleaning, assuming you have a good dealership that won't just blow you off.

Oh yeah, your 30k-40k $ top of the line motorcycle leaks the assembly lube out during the first thousand miles then it will quit.  This is normal for any quality built name brand machine that is supposed to be the leader in their field.  I'm sure that even Ferrari leaks too.  :drink:

I have 3200 miles on my 13 CVO Breakout. Never a drop of oil leaking from anywhere. I'm extremely anal about leeks and anything out of the ordinary. If my bike was leaking from anywhere the dealer would be picking it up at my home in their trailer and delivering it back to me when repaired. Period! the only way the D/Stealers and the moco will change is if us lowly consumers refuse to put up with the "that the normal" BS from these folks.

If you have a good relationship with your dealer they should take care of you. I've sent quite a few people to my dealer who purchased from them. I never expected a thing for my efforts other than some attention from the service department. I have 5 dealers within an hour of my home and I let them know I have choices.

Find one that you can work with and cares about their costumers. We deserve better and need to stand up for what's right. My wife just kicked me off my soapbox.

Not to de-rail the thread but most of the dealers in my area do care about the costumers, they sell more clothes than motorcycles. Its the motorcycle buyers they need to keep happy.  ;D

I just picked the bike up from the 1K service. They said the oil that was dripping onto the motor was normal from the factory and they just wiped it off and not to worry about it. He also said it should not come back but time will tell. Thanks for your guys help! Now need to start looking through some other threads for motor work ideas. ;D

I think we need a secret code for dealers. We could call them Lucy as most "got some splaining to do". Just saying.
