modify factory air filter?

I have FLTRUSE with the factory se breather I think harley calls it the ventilator, has anyone cut top and bottom tabs off outer chrome to open up that part of the breather.

The '11 FLTRUSE came with the Ventilator air cleaner which is very comparable to the heavy breather in performance.  You are not likely to gain anything by removing the tabs as you described.

Wonder if it will hurt anything, or increase the noise. I know i will gain a small amount of filter area.

probably won't hurt anything, but I certainly think it would increase the intake noise.
