Tour pak light recall
« on: November 26, 2006, 08:06:16 PM »

So anyone get the recall done yet?
Did the dealer install the saddlebag lights?

I picked up the kit, gave the dealer my old light and told him I would do it myself. I seldom have the tourpak on anyway.

Took the parts out of the box and only the tour pak light was included.

Same for anyone else?

Had mine done Sat. Had to have my tour pak on the bike, they have to check to see if this is the right light seems that there are 2 lights that look alike but have a different intrenal switch. All they had to do was tap the light with it on and see if the light would go off and on, if it does then it needs to be replaced. Problem i had was the computer showed that my bike was not in the recall, but they replaced it anyway. As far as the saddlebag lights go they cut off the wires that would hook up to the saddle bag lights. Thay should have asked me but they didnt, but they did give me all tha wiring so i could put it back together.

But did you get the saddlebag lights? According to the directions the saddlebag lights are part of the kit.

Duane, stock we only had a light in the tour pak.  Nothing to illuminate down on the saddlebags.  Since the new LED light kit is available as kit that is for inside the tour pak only or as a kit that includes the tour pak and saddlebag illumination all they are really obligated to supply us is part for inside the tour pak.  The other kit would be an upgrade.

That is unless yours had already died and you'd already installed the new ones yourself rathre than screwing with the original redundantly.  Then they won't give you squat because you don't still have the stock light installed to fail for them again.  Not that I'm bitter or anything....  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Are you guys talking about a light inside the bags or the spoiler lights on the top?

Neither actually.  The light inside the tour pak that was stock on the SEEGs to part way through the 05 model year had "issues" (it didn't like to turn off).

don't still have the stock light installed

Don, I pulled the stock light out when I 1st heard about the potential for the light staying on and causing .....

Well you know how us fire guys think.

Anyway, I had the light to give them. Just curious as to what is supposed to be included. The service manager told me the saddlebag lights were included. I just haven't had time to check with them. The instructions and all of the wiring is in the kit, just no lights for the bags.

The light inside the tourpak, there is a recall on the lights, some of them do not shut off when closing the lid.

Duane, when I asked about mine the service manager told me that the specific replacement under the recall was the tour pak light only.

They are nice to have and work real well.

Fine.
Thanks Don.
If they are not included I'll just go ahead and spend some more $$$ thanks to this site.

The lights for the saddlebags are not part of the recall as others have said. The tour pak light is wired for the saddlebag lights, if they dont cut them off like mine. In the Harley parts book you can buy the whole kit with everything included or just the tour pak light and buy the saddlebag light at a different time, more money that way.

My replacement tour pak light came with wiring that had two other plug-ins. Now I am hearing what they could be used for. The dealer did the change-out for me.

I've never heard of lights in the saddlebags on any Harley.  My Tourpac light has been changed out.
