Yep, among two others. Still like the 'shorty' it's unique but almost useless as any sort of wind deflector.  ;D

Both my 2013 Switchback and 2010 Softail CVO Convertible still have their original windshields.

One of the first things I changed was the windshield because I didn't think it would work that well. Now I'm dealing with buffeting from the larger windshield that I put on it. I started thinking maybe I should have given the original one a little more time before I replaced it. I still have the old one. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I used the original "shorty" on my (brand new at the time) '03 for about two weeks and that was enough for me....basically ornamental and useless.   I then used a stock height RK shield for a number of years until I stepped up to a Clearview RK 18.5" w/Recurve a couple years ago.  I'm much happier with this one and so is the BSR.  The recurve throws the air up and over the top or our helmets and the top edge sits about an inch below my normal line of sight.   No buffeting and the light gray smoke tint is just right for my liking.   I'm sold on the Clearviews and my next bike will have one too.  Watch for their seasonal specials if you want to save a couple bucks.

I put the same windshield on my bike but I also replaced the original seat and now I sit a little lower. My line of sight is just over the windshield. I've been trying to talk myself into cutting about a inch and a half off but that would take off most of the recurve also. I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or bad thing.

I saw a bike the same year as mine with a faring and thought it looked good. I hear that's a lot of work if you add all the gauges and a radio. I'm not sure I would like not being able to see my front tire. How does it cut the air?

I wouldn't mess with the design of a recurve.  In the past I've cut standard tall windshields with good results. But for a recurve, get another shorter one unless you want a different design.

I had the same experience with the tall windshield. I don't like having to look through one and the buffeting was untenable on the Ultra.

I now use a 10" WindVest and look over it, rather than through.

A whole lot better than the windsheild, No head buffering at all, No high speed wobble, I will never be without a faring again. Mine is plain inside no gauges or radio, I do regret not getting a radio now but no big deal. At first it was a little strange not being able to see the tire but got use to it after the first ride.

Again, No regrets at all putting the faring on.

I agree.  It shouldn't be too difficult selling the used recurve.....just post it in the For Sale area.

I took a Street Glide for a test ride and it felt very top heavy to me. If it were plain inside like yours maybe it wouldn't be bad. I wish I could try one before before spending the $$$.

I called Clearview and they recommended that I don't cut the windshield. They suggest that I try the fork mount wind deflectors. I hear good things about them but I'm not to crazy about how they look. I already tried a wind baffle. All it did was cause my engine to run about 15* hotter.

I have 12" apes on my bike and I'm not sure your windshield would fit. Maybe my local dealer would be nice enough to let me try one for size. I'll let you know.
