anyone else noticing this?
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:34:45 AM »

My 14' cvo breakout now has 700 miles. I've noticed at approximately 2700-2900rpm while cruising I get a really loud and annoying metal on metal rattle/chatter/machining sound that seems to be coming from the left side of the motor. If I left off the throttle a bit it goes away and if I roll into it slightly it will also go away. Every gear but most noticeably 5&6th. It seems to be getting worse, louder, more common over a larger range of rpm. Anyone else have this?

My right front blinker also is acting up. Running light portion comes and goes and when I activate the blinker it is slow to start blinking compared to the rear.

Love this bike but for what I paid I shouldnt have these issues...

700 miles, sixth gear? How fast are you riding that girl? Not good. Ride it back to the dealer in third.

6th gear over 70mph. Mainly in 5th is when I began to notice this sound on secondary roads.

Take it to your dealer for an exam. You have a warranty for these things. I see your post elsewhere re clutch recall. Make sure they check it out.

Rev the bike in neutral not moving and look/listen for loose stuff: horn, exhaust parts, whatever. If it's near the clutch cover get it inspected now.

Remove the turn signal cover and make sure the bulb is making good contact and the filaments are intact. Follow the bulb wiring to the right switch gear and look for problems.

Don't get discouraged. New bikes will find faults soon.

Thanks. Just trying to get some opinions before I take it to the dealer. I dont ever seems to get good results at dealerships with anything I own. Nobody wants to investigate potential issues, they want the easy in and out warranty work.

Yes we've all experienced the deer in the headlights look from some dealership employees. Sometimes the problem is the service writers or managers aren't trained techs, but rather selected for their thick skin and ability to stand in one place for hours and deal with PO'd owners and service paperwork. Each have their own skill set. I'd not want their job.

I try to establish a relationship with them all, and ask questions about things I don't understand. Sometimes it's best to ask for their mechanic's take on the problem before it gets filtered and written up on a work order.

The clutch recall pertains to the wrong release part being installed in the clutch housing. One works, one wears prematurely (the wrong one designed for the cable clutch). Pop the primary cover and look is their task. Replace as required.

Once the baby teething is over you'll enjoy the ride.

"Take it to your dealer"? You might as well consult your Ouija board.   :'(

:o The way you describe this it looks like your Compensator is giving up on you , better to go to your Dealer a.s.a.p.

Do you have any mods done to the bike?

Sounds like it could be pinging (detonating).  Bad fuel or to much timing in the tune.
