Traveling in Canada
« on: April 20, 2014, 09:26:57 AM »

What about exhaust, How does Canada look at after market exhaust, my mufflers are not extremely loud, but they are louder than stock. I plan on traveling to Canada this summer, would Canadian officials turn someone away because they didn't have factory exhaust on their bike ?
              Thanks Jonnierock

I live in northwest Washington state and have ridden into Canada a lot with guys that have loud pipes on their bikes. Once rode from Aldergrove, BC to Moose Jaw, SK, and have never known anyone to have a problem with loud pipes. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Just don't get too crazy with your riding style and things will be good.  RIDE ON.

Usually exhaust charges here are attitude related, if you mind your own business usually you won't be bothered, ride like an ass and it tends to get very expensive!

I've ridden in Canada numerous times without issue using various brands of aftermarket pipes...  Rineharts, FatCats, Fuel Moto...

Edmonton, Alberta has newer rules......and equipment for testing exhaust loudness. Some of the charity rides have gone so far as to avoid Edmonton and do the surrounding areas instead.

Calgary, Ab. also has excessive noise bylaws. Just ride responsibly and there should be no issues.

If you stay out of the city, that's where they seem to target people.

My wife and I have ridden our bikes up to BC and Vancouver Island many times - we both have after-market pipes that are fairly loud.  Never bothered at all!  We even operated out of Victoria for several days without any issues (no problems within the city...).

Don't forget to leave the pistol at home though-no go zone for sidearms.

Also, if you happen to have any kind of criminal record (even an old conviction), better inquire ahead of time because you could be denied entry depending on the type of offence and the circumstances.

On a funny note, that loser Justin Beiber got secondaried and was nearly denied entry back into the US because of all the charges he's on right now  :huepfenlol2: (embarrased to say he is Canadian). Not that we want to keep him....the US can have him!! :'(

Ontario also has an "excessive noise " law but as said in previous posts it is usually reserved for those who ride like idiots and have attitude.  My SERG has V&H and is louder than most of the guys I ride with but I have never had an issue.  I also agree with North Star  :2vrolijk_21: he made some good points. Where in Canada are you planning to ride?
