Ducati Monster 796 vs Yamaha FZ8 Fazer

If I were to pick up a second bike, I'd be looking at these two.

Anybody own either one or have an opinion as to how they compare to each other?

I'm thinking the Ducati would have a lot more character- kinda like comparing a HD vs Japanese cruiser.

I think the Triumph Speed Triple (1050 cc) would actually be tops on my list, but the best years for those were 2011 or newer, which come pricey. A more affordable choice would be a 2008 + Yamaha FZ1.... but then again, the Triumph beats it in the "character" category.... :nixweiss:

I've had my Duc for a number of years and if it's character you're after - not to mention phenomenal braking and handling and Italian sex appeal - there is no comparison, and my 900 SS/CR is 18 years old! The new Ducs are even more precise and "lower" maintenance than mine.  The Yamaha doesn't appeal to me personally. The Triumph triple is nice but it''s not quite the same as the Duc, although I will admit that the sound of a triple can be addictive.

My Italian mistress says thank you!
She is truly a fun ride. Just have to be in the right frame of mind to take her out. Absolutely the polar opposite of the Harleys.

Came very close to buying a Diavel around a year ago.i spent the day on it and If I would have had a better salesman I probably would have but after sleeping on it I decided I would miss the bags/sound system too much but will always love the bikes..
