« on: November 28, 2006, 01:37:31 AM »

Inquisitive minds need to ask is anyone out there useing electric trailer brakes? I'm a bit concerned with safety issues of this but am considering purchaseing a tent camper that is 325 lbs. empty!! Any thoughts?

BAD IDEA! It can be done and if you are up to it go for it. (When you hit the brakes Hard in a panic stop) It will stop and pull you down on the ground HARD.

Ima29, I have owned a compact tent trailer for  over six years. Don't have trailer brakes, pulled it with my wide glide for the first three years, could have used some extra brakes. The last three years was with the 00 road king, much better. Newer stock brakes work just fine. Have twelve other freinds that pull tent trailers as well. Would love to share some pics but I ummm a manhandled the wife's camera trying to jam the bigger memory stick and well I think we might need a new one. OOOOOPSS

No brakes on the trailer. I have a few trailers that I tow behind the scoot. Just put more space between you and whatever is ahead of you. It does take a little longer to stop. I agree with VAZHOG that brakes on a trailer are too dangerous.

Well that settles it. Didn't seem like a bright idea. I sometime wonder about those winger guys and am still wondering :P. Thanks for the confirmation.
