Clyde,

Sounds like you have resolved all that you can. Good to hear replacement of defective parts and done effectively to your satisfaction. Hopefully fender will also be to your satisfaction. Much easier for a consumer to handle this prior to delivery as you did. Thanks for the information and your views.

Clyde, I'm sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations, but... you sure do write a great post! Kept my interest and had me laughing (sorry) several times.  I, like you, have decided not to pop a vein in my forehead over visuals, and just keep after my dealer to correct 'em (flaking chrome on the 04 SEEG), which they are doing, slowly but surely.

Your essay gets an A+

Clyde, glad you were able to get your bike and that things are working out to meet your expectations, albiet lowered as they are.  So far (I'm keeping my fingers crossed) my '07 B&O Ultra has had no problems at all in six weeks of ownership and 1,200 miles.  Spent a lot of time adding goodies to make it the way I like and weather has cooperated for some nice rides.  Hope you find your to be as nice.

Clyde;
Glad you got the bike and some of the issues resolved. It really is a shame the HD does not give a sh*t about these bikes or us the paying customers. I hope it all works out for you in the end and you have many happy miles on your new bike!

PS: Are you going to make the show in Sac on the 13th and 14th? http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1165962805/25#25

Update: "How I Drank The Harley Kool-aid and Survived - So Far".

The rear speaker box "slit in the leather" issue is resolved. After telling my dealer several times that the slit was a defect, today, Harley corporate parts said that they modified the FLHTCUSE2 speaker boxes in June of '06 to add a small slit for increased reliability.

I'm glad to know that I have speaker boxes with matching slits and that they have increased reliability.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you had on your B&O Jester Clyde.  I got mine roughly about the same time you got yours, and haven't noticed any real issues except the seal between the inner and outer fairing on top of the left speaker isn't seated right...Dealership taking care of that now during the 1K service, and some very, very slight orange peel effect on the front fender.   I really had to look hard to find that and in bright sun light, looking at it just at the right angle.  I guess I didn't expect perfection before I bought it, and have been really pleased with the fit and finish of the bike.   But that is shoddy quality control...the warranty is supposed to be for parts that fail after deliever, not parts that were shipped bad from the factory due to shoddy quality control.  I agree, it's not the dealer's responsiblity to fix those problems.

Unfortunately the dealers don't mind because they get paid well to do it... [smiley=oops.gif]

Wild Clyde.....that was an outstanding replay of the unfortunate turn of events that your CVO experience has been.  I appreciate the facts......names, dates, etc.

As for quality control on motorcycles.......it's not just a Harley thing.....read the latest issue of Motorcycle Consumer News (the Consumer Reports of the motorcycle industry).....  http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1167173363/0#0

04 and 05 SEEGs had a few issues but nothing like what the 06 and 07 have had.  You'd think that after a year or two of dealing with paint issues that the MoCo would get a handle on that.  It would certainly be easier to deal with up front than in the tail end.

I hope that you join us for the Easyriders Bike Show in Sacramento next weekend.....get to meet a number of the members here from Nor Cal........  http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1165962805/0#0

As far as how hot they get.........I remember when the 04 SEEGs came out with the 103" motor they run hotter than an 88" or 95" and that was a concern.  Now they've gone up to 110" ........I'd imagine they run just a tad bit warmer than the 103". [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

And remember back when the twin cam came out......it ran hotter than the EVO, too.

Clyde,
Damn shame! No excuse for such poor quality control on their top of line products, or even the other models for that matter. Sounds like a Friday afternoon 4PM quality control issue. Maybe take the time to write the VP of Quality Control and so on. The dealers are middle-men and it's becoming apparent that they are at the mercy of MOCO.

Did this come from Golden Gate or Dudley-Perkins? IMHO Definitely pass on it.

., Vern Gliot, and he agrees to come inspect the bike ASAP, but mentions that he won't be able to get there for a week or more due to vacation plans.

Vern Gliot visits the bike on Friday 12/8, much sooner that expected, and approves expedited replacement for the tank, the inner fairing, and the speaker box. In an e-mail from the dealer to me on Monday 12/11 the dealer says "While Vern did acknowledge some orange peel in the rear fender, he deemed it to be the nature of the paint process due to the type of paint and numerous layers of clear coat used to produce the finish on the Screamin

I had a lot of issues with my '06 SEUC, finally got fed up and had it sold, after a second dealer finally fixed the issues.  They stepped to the plate and fixed the stuff that HD was dragging their feet on.  I have found that the dealer plays a big part in getting 'er done!!!!

;DSo far my '07 SEUC is problem free, still breaking it in, only 399 miles on it, plan to put another 100 on it today, supposed to be 60 degrees in Maryland today!!!!  ;D

I agree with this statement, too bad for me that my ex-home dealership doesnt fit into the 'good dealership' category. Othewise, maybe I wouldnt be so bitter. Im lucky I found a new one not too far away that is much better. I can only hope that they replace the area rep someday, he really is a pos. If he treats other customers, like he treated me, Im sure MoCo would get rid of him. He cant possibly be good for buisness.

Mike, I thought you'd written in the bad paint thread that more parts were eventually ordered this last time.  There are so many of you with screwed up parts it is admittedly impossible to keep everyone's hassles straight.  But how have you actually ended up so far?  Are you completely screwed or have more parts coming in yet more delay  (i.e., only partially screwed with more screwing potentially on the way)?
