HD Premium Tour-Pak Latches
« on: May 01, 2014, 11:36:55 AM »

I installed the HD premium tour-pak hinges last year, now I'm thinking about the latches.
Anyone tried them?  Are they worth the trouble and expense? :nixweiss:

Friend did his. Personally I think they are more difficult to use than oem latches. I did not do mine and am glad I did not.

I put them on my 11.5 and I like them.
They look cleaner to me, and the operation of the latches is easier especially when closing the lid, with the original latches it was a bit of a pain to get the top and bottom lined up and "latched". With the "Premium" latches there is a slot in the bottom half that the hook (for lack of a better description :nixweiss:) from the top goes into and there is a audible "click" when they are latched together properly.

I have fitted them as well, and for the cost, time and effort to fit them you do not get much of an improvement on the original locks. Oops that covers 90percent of the mods I have done !

X2 for the hinges...but the stock latches work and look just fine.  Every one I've seen with those new latches seems to require a heavy hand to get those new latches to "click in".

I have the latches on Sapphire. They are the bomb!!!! Press the button on each one and they release. No need to touch them when you are closing the lid, auto lock. Did the hinges as well.

I had the premium latches on my Limited and when I got my new trike, my wife requested I not put the latches on.  She found them hard to use.

I bought the hd premium hinges a while back, they didn't have the latches in stock that day, I set them off to the side and figure one day I'll get to that as my bikes only got 2500 miles on it no hurry, now realizing some times the aftermarkets usually got 3-5 other ways to go I might go after market, really curious to know who's tried the aftermarket ones.   [hope this is on subject enough to not be thread jackin]  Randy

Lots of members have these:

There have been several group buys, but I think they are gone forever.

Let me know of any intrest and I will try to find the contact. He had 3 or 4 sets left after the last group buy, has retired so no more being made.

I think you are correct. I still have a few sets but I am holding on to them. They are well built and look great.

2K and the Dawg thanks for the pic and the info,  was there a matching latch that went with those, and do the harley premeium latchs work with the electric lock, and if theres a matching latch for the aftermarket hinge would the electric lock work with it ? thanks Randy    [Dawg I'm lookin forward to MV and what I'm sure will be some ass kickin bbq]
