Haulmark Trailer P.O.S.
« on: May 07, 2014, 10:12:00 AM »

Ok folks, I know a lot of you out there are completly against trailering your bikes and I can appreciate that. Unfortunately, not everyone can ride 10,12,15 hours a day cross country. So please forgive my necessity to trailer. That being said, I really need help from the forum in deciding on a trailer to purchase.

Last weekend I bought a Haulmark v-nose Low Hauler and I could't get 2 miles down the road (literally) without the outer skin peeling back. And that was after a 5 1/2 drive from New Orleans to Houston, hotel stay, gas and a days vacation. Long story short, I had to get my money back and UTC/Haulmark refused to "make things right". So Haulmark, Wells Cargo and Featherlite are all OUT!!!!
I am looking at Bendron, Lark, Pace and Continental Cargo. Can anyone please help?

Legend trailers in St Johns Michigan.   Purchase from Beck's next door to factory.

RnR trailers also in Michigan.   Buy direct from RnR..

Both will ship to your door.

Fist class all aluminum trailers except for axles.

I would give a A+ to RnR. I also like Aluma, but they are a tad more expensive.

are you saying the dealership would not work with you after seeing the damage? if that's the case, i'd be mad as hell. a freind pulled a haulmark back to north Dakota from Arizona recently with four baggers in it and was driving in hellish wind and his did the same. he stopped at wally world and bought a bunch of cheap ratchet straps and nylon rope and wrapped the whole damned trailer threetimes and continued on to ND. his trailer was way out of warranty so it's on him to fix it. sound like haulmark needs to go back to the drawing board. my 12 foot united is 9 years old and looks like new, no issues at all.

As with most disgruntled customers I'm sure there are two sides to the story. I have owned two Haulmarks and the current one (a 7x14 Vee nose tandem axle) is a fine well made trailer. The latest one probably has 5,000 + miles on it hauling everything from bikes to furniture to a Mini Cooper.  I'm hoping your first post calling a Haulmark trailer a POS is not indicative of how you describe the tools that a lot of us use. As I said there must be two sides to the story.

My father has a Wells Cargo trailer that has over a half million trouble free miles on it.  I currently own a Haulmark trailer and in the past have owned a Featherlite trailer - both have been trouble free.

I loaned my Haulmark trailer to my brother in law a couple of years ago.  He snagged a fender on a pole and damaged it.  Haulmark was great to work with when he ordered the new replacement fender.

That said, if you had a bad experience with Haulmark, so be it.  But every trailer supplier out there will have fans and will have detractors.

The owner of Pace trailers is a friend of mine (but I've never used his product).  All I can say is he's an honorable guy, and I expect he stands behind his product.   :2vrolijk_21:

I have a NEO aluminum trailer that I got 3 years ago and have been happy with.  Have put about 8,000 miles on it and no problems.  http://www.neotrailers.com/products_trailers_nam.php

Myself and a few others in our group have the Logan Coach Silver Eagle motorcycle trailers, made in Logan, Utah. Mine is 7' X 14' and is is the oldest, it is 1998 and it still looks as good as the day I bought. Have probably over 30,000 mile hauling a ton of crap.

Here are a couple of pics of it in Phoenix, friend of mine asked me to bring his Road King back.

RnR, Three Rivers, Mi. (269) 278-5310 gets my vote. All aluminum with Dexter Axles. Bought a 7x14 in 2001 for $5,300. Needed something bigger, sold it in 2012 for $3800. Bought a 8x24, RnR of course! Picked them both up at the factory..........but then, me & the kid love road trips.

OK........I see you have the (power).......not sure about the "control".  One of my Raleigh buddies that built a lot of street rods, had a diesel Ford pu. and once he got a trailer similar to what you're talking about,  it scared the hell out of him.  He said he was all over the road.  The answer was a similar pu with the "dually" rear tire setup.

I guess your experience with handling must be different than his was......... :drink:
