 While MoCo chrome has steadily gone downhill these past years I have seen some terrible aftermarket plated pieces, including stuff sent out to platers. Definitely buy reputable products and use known chrome plating shops. Expensive, but when it comes to chrome you get what you pay for.
 Here in the coastal rain forest we wash our rides religiously, whether they need it or not, because of the salt in the air and rain (yes, we ride in the rain or don't ride at all). A royal PITA, but gotta wash or finishes go to hell quickly. Not a good place for spoked wheels. Aluminum oxidizes very fast also.
