Wired in new GPS today.
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:10:01 PM »

I hard wired a new GPS mount in today for a new Garmin Zumo 590LM.  Now I need to learn how to upload routes that others have posted on-line!

I purchased mount from T&T Fabrication on-line. I added their extension to bring the GPS closer to me. The attached picture is from their website.

Here you can barley see it sitting behind the windscreen.

Nice thanks for sharing! I just checked out their website. If I use the ball mount I could mount my 2595. Interesting. I just worry about it falling off?

Looking forward to hearing how you like it compared to the 660 and if there really is significant improvement!

Thanks Jswerve.......I went with Harley's CVO color matched "chopped" tour-pak trunk and smooth backrest because I wanted a sleeker look than the King size tour-pak.  It's mounted on a Harley Davidson detachable two up mounting rack. I also bought the Razor-Pak "unpainted" because they didn't have the matching CVO color scheme for it. I've had it a year and it's still in the box....need to get off my butt and send it our for a CVO matching paint scheme.

Not sure how much improved the 590 will be over the 660.  I had a 660 on my last bike but the guy who bought it paid me extra for it because he liked how it was mounted and that the quick mount was hard wired to the bike.  I did not wire the 590 to the bikes speakers to give turn directions via the bikes speakers but instead plan on getting a Bluetooth helmet and have music and turn directions through the helmet speakers.  I haven't done this before so I hope I will like it set up that way.  The screen does seem brighter in direct sun light but will need to take a trip to see if it's really readable in direct sunlight or if it gets washed out like the 660 did.

Oh I meant the 3 pocket windshield bag with gps mount they sell lol.

I hear you about the looks of the razor vs King but the only reason I put my tour pak on is to increase storage so going with a razor kind of defeats the purpose.

Jswerve....I think you could use this RAM mount with the same fairing mount I bought from T&T Fabrications.  This is the Nuvi 2595 mount off the RAM mount website.

My bad....I have the 3 pocket windshield bag but have it off in the attached photo.  The chopped tour-pak is a good compromise between the King and Razor.  I have the chopped tour-pak on my bike at the moment.  If I put the Razor on, I could probably go pick up a pizza in it, but not much else.  I'm just saying..... :nixweiss:

Haha I ride with my wife 99% of the time so I need a lot of space lol. When I ride alone the tour pak stays in the garage and the solo seat goes on.  Thanks for the suggestion on the ram mount!
